Who says the SS cant get decent mileage?
I've made several trips to neighboring states in the last six months and have been getting fantastic mileage. On this trip, I had a strong head wind, a 2000+ ft elevation increase, as well as some very icy roads, and the car was absolutely packed with ski gear and Christmas stuff (I'm actually amazed at how much we fit in there), yet none of these factors affected the mileage as much as I'd expect them to. 90%of the drive was highway, zero interstate. Average speed was around 75-80 mph. I know that 26 mpg isnt the best, but for a 6.2L V8, I think its amazing that this car can manage its fuel so effectively. Just another great reason for why I love this car so much. Also, hit the 10,000 mile mark on the way down! I'm 1/3 of the way to getting some new cams!

That's great mileage for a 376!
I averaged 25.5 going cross country - loaded trunk, passenger, etc. Is your car manual or automatic? The transmission is likely where I left ~ .6 difference in economy.

Mines to new yet but at 100 miles I did a short freeway check I used on the v6 at 67 mph and got 27. On my 98 z28 with intake and exhaust and tune, two people at 70 mph average got 28, And that car is lighter and more aerodynamic. So yeah good mpg there!

Mine is right at 21mpg after 8500miles. No long trips. Pretty aggressive driving. I'm happy!

I have a question. Since I got my car used, 12K miles on it when I bought it, if I reset the MPG estimator, will it estimate for the life of the car or just to the point of reset?
**edit** Found it!!! Once you reset the MPG, then it starts over from that point. Now I can see what I'm getting!!!

23-24 is what my '10 SS gets consistantely on the interstates even with the cruise set @ 70 mph 90% of the time. Sorry but I really have to question some of the mileage claims I've seen here on Camaro5. I hope everyone is resetting the computer before checking.

Im honestly surprised how good we SS owners get these numbers for MPG! Im right there with you guys, my last drive to texas and back I was going 70-80 maintaining atleast 25-26mpg! Gotta love technology and 6 gears!

I reset at every fill-up and get 26.3 on the highway, driving conservatively of course. No complaints here.

I filled up immediately before I began my trip, and I always reset my average speed/ average fule economy setting after refilling the tank. I love making the whole trip on one tank with fule to spare. The reason why some SS's get better mileage than others can be attributed to some of the bolt on parts some SS's like mine have. The ported throttle body, CAI, and catback exhaust all contribute to the engine using its fule more efficiently.
