seating position

I was thinking about getting the 2010 camaro but was wondering how the seating position is on the new model. I sat in my friends 2001 SS camaro but didnt like how it felt when i sat in it.. the seating position was to low.. it was as if i was laying down.. i couldnt see the end of the hood.. and just overall didnt like how it was..even with adjusting the seat... is the new camaro's seating position like the older ones?? i'm over seas right now so i cant go test drive one but would like to just get some opinions.. thanks

It's kickass. Very adjustable. You just need someone to show you how to set it up. I also have 2 4th gens and I like those but these seats are better. BTW - I'm 6'1" and 225 lbs.

You can't compare one gen to another. The seating positions in the gen 5 rock.

Now, that being said, the only complaint seems to be the passenger seat is low and the height cannot be adjusted.

So you need to get 'em a pillow or get someone taller to ride shotgun

If you want to see the end of the hood, you will have to adjust your seat upwards to where there is about 1 and a half inches of space between your head and the roof in the non-sunroof Camaro.

This is the biggest problem for shorter people sitting in the passenger side. They are staring at the dash... The passenger seat should have been 4 way adjustable as well..

I had a 3rd gen (82 Berlinetta) from 87 to 95 and loved that car! I tried to like the 4th gens, but couldn't. I could not stand to sit in them. The 5th Gen felt great to me on my test drive. I'm 5' 11" and over 300 with a long torso. Yeah, my head was up near the roof with the seat all the way down and back, but it was fine.

I picked up my car Thursday night...and I was actually amazed at the range of adjustment...up/down, forward/back, tilt forward/back, and the steering wheel tilts and moves forward/back. I'm only 5'2" so I can't see the very front of the hood, but I see most of it (what a view with that hood scoop!), but then again I've never driven a car where I see the front of the hood. It just takes me awhile to get a feel for where the boundaries of the car are. Unless you have a super long torso, I don't see how you couldn't find a comfortable position without the gansta lean. Personally I prefer to sit up straight (or nearly so). Also, you don't want your seat too high, because then you run into visibility issues with the rearview mirror blocking your forward view (esp at a 4-way stop).

Funny you should ask....

Got an email on Thursday -- (and haven't had a chance to send it out to the community yet -- ) from Jim McIlvaine......for those of you into basketball -- yes, THAT Jim McIlvaine..........

He's 7' 1" tall -- (...a lil fella!...)

He bought a 2002 35th Anniversary Camaro Convertible -- when they were new -- and he fit in it -- the seat had to be the whole way back and reclined quite a bit - but he fit. He would NOT fit in a 2002 Coupe -- and forget fitting into a Mustang.

He tells me he just test-drove a 2010 Camaro -- and he fits!

I'll be sending his remarks out later next week......

The space is deceiving inside the camaro. Some people think its too small... And then when I see my brother who is 6'6" and weighs 370 lbs driving it and having room to wiggle.. He likes it..
