Automatic - Manual Position

Question about the Automatic manual position. I know that in the drive position it starts in second all the time. In the manual position when you initially place it says S on the display, does this put it in first? I assume it is so you don't have to use the paddle shifters and you can start in first but I am not positive because as soon as you hit the paddle shifters it either says M1 or M2 so I have no way of knowing how it starts. Just trying to figure out how I should do it for racing.

the S is sport mode and you can drive normally. if you want to use the tap shift you have to downshift to m1.

I only live ~30mins from Chambersburg. What track are you going to use?

From the posts i have seen from you on here, I think you need to learn to drive the car first, before you do any racing.......

By the way the round thing in front of the drive's seat is the steering wheel, you use it to steer or direct the car in the direction you want it to go......

Yea, just jealous of those with the car already, he might as well go get a mustang, doesn't deserve a Camaro.

It is better to ask and be told and actually know before guessing and doing something stupid or just wasting a bunch of time

So will it not start in 1st then? I am just trying to figure out the difference between D and S for Drive and Sport

Well if it is not starting in first in S mode then I am spining alot of rubber in 2dn when power braking it.

It just seems that when put in sport mode it has less take off power than M1 (which may be my imagination) but it just seems like it starts in second, I could be wrong though - it isn't fully broken in yet so I am not playing with it hard enough to really tell.

The 1st is like for hills and towing. Yes an automatic can tow a small boat, 2 jet skis, a small utility trailer. The 2 is small enough not to stress the vehicle starting from a stop. Like skip shift does by forcing 4th on the poor innocent engine without your choice.

Same automatic that is in 2010 Escalade and Suburban with a different shift tune.

Aren't we a little arrogant?

Yeah, I was crusing in Sports mode today it has an interesting feel. I am experimenting with the Manual/Tapshift, so trying to get a more comfortable feel to it. Still glad I got Auto because I love the smoother ride and not have that jerking around feel to it.

So when at the track for racing, should it just be placed in the S (sport mode) or use the paddle shifters? The reason I ask is it seems there is a delay between tap of the shifter and the actual shift, so running up to a certain RPM to shift to reach a certain RPM before the shift will be a little difficult. Almost need a shift light. If Sport Mode is fine for the track then that is what I will use, but I would figure without first gear the launch just won't be there and the actual race time will be much slower.
