Exclamation She's Falling Apart . . . . Help!

OK so I apologize in advance, this might be a long thread. For starter's she is a 2SS RS L99 Inferno Orange, got her 21st of August and just over 6K under her belts.

About a month ago I noticed the brakes squealing, called the dealer and they told me it was the brake pads "setting in." Now the slightest touch to the pedal and they squeal. Her spoiler is also loose, but I've heard that its just a loose nut and nothing to worry about. However, my shifter buzzes whenever I go over about 30. Any ideas?

Now that I've perked up about the brakes and shifter I'm starting to notice a lot more things that don't add up. For example, I don't have park assist (which not sure if that was an option or a standard feature). My information/music/navigation system (blue display on center console) is missing a bunch of the vehicle configuration settings. Which doesn't make sense to me.

The paneling has been coming off of the passenger wheel well for as long as I can remember, and I've just been popping it back in.

I sent a complaint to GM and within an hour I had someone helping me. I'm dropping her off at the dealer tomorrow to be looked at, the dealer wants her for "an unknown amount of time to diagnose and fix." I'm really starting to get worried that she's a lemon. Help? Please, really could use some support/answers.

Minus the breaks, everything you described is in the forums, there are Service bulletins that the dealerships have to use for fixing your car. Do a little search and you have all the answers you need. (BTW your car is not a lemon, just an earlier production run that had features that were addressed to be fixed)

The panel popping could be a tab that doesnt lock and stay in.

The Brembos squeal because...well...they are Brembos. High performance brakes do squeal.

The shifter...not sure.

Park assist. Seeing you picked up the car in August on the 21st, you wont have it. Cars built from August 31st and on do. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39431

The spoiler...yet the nuts were loose on some cars.

Just remember, this is one heck of a site. And some of the complaints you have are on here...just

Thank you guys for the quick responds. Trust me, I have done my searching, practically lived in the forum archive the past few days. I'm just a paranoid, overprotective, Camaro owner who doesn't want his girl to be out of his sight line for more than a few hours. Let alone someone else drive her.

The park assist depends on when you bought the car. First production run didn't have it...

When you say center console, you mean the display between the speedo and the tach right?

No, not the digital display screen. I'm talking about the center console, the blue rectangle screen that is the radio/XM/aux/iPhone/etc . When I press the Config button, then select Vehicle Settings, a menu of choices come up. I am missing 2 or 3 of those choices.

You make it sound like the doors and wheels are falling off. I don't see anything too serious there. No sweat, you have a warranty.

I believe this has already been addressed, so of course I have to add my $0.02. I'm not flaming you, I just don't get it.

Technology is beautiful, but I say it's no substitute for the real thing.

Getting to know every inch of your automobile is a good thing. I'm not saying everyone is a NASCAR driver, but they can drive that close because they feel every inch of that car.

To put it in perspective... I looked really silly when I first bought my Camaro. I'd back up, get out, look ... get in, back up more, get out, look ... get in, etc. (no, I didn't hit anything) But that was me getting to know how close my surroundings were when I was in my Camaro. I s'pose we all do it our own way.

I've since, proudly taken up a "small car" parking space in my company's building. Not regularly, but it was day!

Anyway, my point being that I prefer to 'rely' on my senses rather than the technology (which punches 4 holes in your rear bumper).

Come on 5th gen, "feel every inch of the car"? Really. The Camaro has blind spots like nothing else and it doesn't hurt to have the features that are supposed to be part of the car. I agree that you in no way need to have a parking assist on it, I certainly don't trust it on mine, but it has nothing to do with NASCAR or feeling every inch of the ride.

However, in your defense I do know what you mean by knowing your ride through practice.

Have you taken it to the dealer to deal with the problems (spoiler, loose panel, etc)?

I've been speaking with a GM Regional Rep the past few days and dropped Eleanor off at the dealer this morning. The service manager looked her over, wrote down everything I said that was wrong/loose/etc, and then took my keys. I was told that it would probably take a day to diagnose everything that is acting up, and told me they had no idea when I could get her back.

I understand about the park assist and feeling the car out. Honestly, its a paranoid thing for me. I live in DC and have to parallel park pretty much all the time, and I still (after 7 months) still get out and check. Also, for me I kind of feel cheated with missing the park assist by 10 days. It's as if GM is punishing me for buying one of the earlier models.
