Decided to go JBL

So i've decided to go JBL.

Heres the situation: Working on a daily driver / showcar

2010 Chevy Camaro 2SS/RS

2 - 10" JBL W10GTi MkII (trunk mounted in sealed enclosure by cartoys)
1 - JBL GTO 14001 (already installed)
2 - JBL 660GTI
2 - JBL GTO 1004
1 - Full Hushmat setup
1 - Kinetik Battery for 3000 watts.

CarToys in Tulsa is doing all of the install. But everyone has their own opinion.. I want crisp, clean, tight bass, and great sound quality. I am going to retain the factory head unit because i want it to be "semi-stealth".

The full install should be done by the end of next week. I will have many pictures to post soon! :-)

THE CAR IS IN THE SHOP!! :-) My component speakers arrived today and I have never been more giddy. They are changing the way my subs fire.. i had one ten in the ******** location on the driverside of the trunk but now they are going to be cabin firing 2 10's :-) I went up there to drop off my kinetik battery and they already had my whole interior out and the whole trunk fabric laying down my hushmat! :-) it will be ready at the end of the day tomorrow! IM PUMPED!

Problem with having the sub firing into the car is that your back seat have to alway be down. I am in the process of planning out my setup. I plan on having 2 8" JL w7's firing up where the rear 6x9's are. Bass in the car and a nice show trunk imo. Please post pics when finished.

no the subs are going to have a 3" gap between the seat and the wall sealed. They said i will get a little more spl out of the subs with the seat folded down but it wont bother them or their attack with the seat up at all, they wont be pressed. also the w10gti mk2's are alot like the JL audio W7's only difference is that they are more for SQ over SPL and they have a unique design that keeps them from moving hardly at all, one voice coil pulls in the other coil pushes out. keeping the bass extremely tight and responsive. You really should look at those if your not an SPL nut. :-) I will still have about 1/2 of my trunk space with the total install completed.

Gary Biggs is assisting the install. If you google him you will have faith in his decision. he's a world known audio installer and fabricator.

I know the name very well. I didn't realize which subs you were running. I'm not an SPL nut at all more SQ. I have the 1-10" JBL W10GTi MkII in my G35 sedan and love it. I think the 2 8" w7's will give me a tighter bass than the JBL.

Forward firing subs vs rear firing subs doesn't affect SQ at all. It might have an affect on the output of the system, but even then sometimes only enough that a mic will pick it up. Usually, not a rule written in stone, rear firing is louder.

The only way the w7 will give tighter bass response compared to the 10 GTi, is if the w7 is in a smaller enclosure, optimized for that while the Gti subs aren't. Enclosure will determine the majority of how a sub responds, the actual sub only plays a small part and the amplifier itself has a rule in that as well. A Funky Pup 8, in the right enclosure, will compete with a w7 for quickness, and tight bass response, until the Funky Pup dies, lol.

Wow MrRay13 thanks for the info. I didnt know the difference it really made. Gary is up at the Car Toys Shop in tulsa all the time, he only lives a few miles away in Bixby. Since im going all JBL the whole way including i have a preorder down for the MS-8 processor he is anxious to hear what its going to turn out like since Im using the flagship of all speakers, subs and amps. and I'm bi-amping the component speakers cant wait to see how it sounds and hopefully the hushmat will say GOODBYE to the drone from the offroad pipes, xpipe and flowmaster AT catback! :-)

They are still partnered up crown aka harman international. and the guts are all crown. but the power supplies and internals are much more efficient these days and they make them in smaller packages! THAT LOOKS INCREDIBLE THO! and they also dont produce that amp anymore because it was too powerful for any of their equipment JBL pairs amps with their speakers and subs quite well so there is no ...."I guess im gonna just go with a Rockford Turdgate amp for cheaper business."

That 6000 amp would run 10 of my 10's at perfect RMS power! LMAO!!!
