I was out of town for about a week and a half. Just got in my car today. Drove about 30 miles or so and I notice a strange smell. It smells like an old Lionel train. Anybody have any idea what it may be?

Ah yes, you mean the 'ol Lionel train smell like when you put those drops of oil in the smoke stack to make the engine smoke?

mine gets that smell on occasion. funny how you describe it because it is an unusual smell. not sure what it is and it seems like it doesnt do it as much now that i have just over 10000 miles. hadnt really noticed it in the wifes car. is yours a manual or auto?

I think it is the clutch. Mine has stuck about 3 inches off the floor a couple of times and each time there is an awful smell.

Look under the car and check for any oil leaks or seepage.

You seem to be descibing an electrical smell. I have no idea what may be causing that inside unless it may be the blower fan in the cabin.

Maybe you can post a video of the smell on you tube.

Seriously though, my car had a mild smell for the first couple of days and I was going to take it back in, but it seems to have stopped.

i have a VERY strong "rubber burning smell " every time a punch the throttle ???

how many milles on your car? i had some strange smells for the first week but they went away. im at 8000 miles.
just chalked them up to new gaskets/fluids from being just built......
