Last night we were at a local car show. We met a man who lives near us with a 2010 SS. When he started to look in ours he noticed some differences. We went over to his car to see exactly what he meant. We were very surprised to see his interior.
He didn't want the 2SS gauge package so we believe his car must be a 1SS BUT it has black leather with white stitching. His leather is not the soft, perforated type as ours or any other 2010 we have seen. It is a thicker, rougher textured black leather. It has pure white stitching and the stitching pattern was different than ours. It was only a single row on the edge of the seats, not the multi row as ours. He had cloth door insert panels, door armrests without stitching and his center console armrest doesn't have stitching either. That appears to be plastic and not leather. He says he ordered his car last June and it was delivered last August. We went home last night and looked thru our brochure and online to try to figure out what his car is and how he got this interior. We are under the impression that only 2LT's and 2SS's get leather and that cloth inserts only went in the cloth interiors. Plus the different leather really threw us off. He's wondering if the dealer switched some things out on him and it's not truly what he ordered. He has just recently been meeting people with 2010's but just realized last night after looking at ours that his is different. Sorry no pics to show. I should have taken some with my phone but didn't. We told him to post some pics here and to ask questions of the board because someone must know why his car is like this. I don't see any posts yet am very curious so I decided to post the questions. Has anyone seen this type interior in their own or another 2010?? ![]() ![]()

Probably was an aftermarket kit. There shouldn't have been any variations from the factory. The RS gauge pack doesn't make it a 2SS compared to a 1SS. Either can have a gauge pack, or no gauge pack.

It came from the dealer this way...he's wondering if they switched out something on him. The seats were the exact same type as our 2SS, have the embroidered SS's on the headrests but totally different leather. According to our brochure the gauge cluster is only standard on a 2LT or a 2SS. It says not available on the 1LT or 1SS. His does not have a RS package on it.

The gauge package has nothing to do with "RS" or "Non-RS", as previously noted it is only available (and included) with the 2SS and 2LT.

And Yes, for whatever reason, he's got aftermarket leather seats in a 1SS, at least that's what it sounds like.

It sounds like he definitely bought a 1SS and the dealer had installed aftermarket leather seats.

Dealer installed leather, not sure why. I wouldnt think the leather and labor would be worth it? Unless they really thought they could up sell it. I looked at an SS like that also. It had black plastic looking door inserts and the dash trim was cloth. I assume they just cut off the cloth from the door trim?

They definitely pulled a fast one. That has got to be a 1SS with aftermarket leather. I'm guessing it also lacks the steering wheel controls too. I think everything except the ABL can be upgraded with GM accessories (trim panels, console, steering controls, guages, and USB). If he paid for a 2SS, he should have the dealer upgrade his car for free.
