6 speed Mustang shift knob on a 2015 1lt?

I got to looking for a classic style shift knob with an engraved "H" pattern for the V6 6 speed and could not find one. I did find Mustang 6 speed knob of the style I liked with the correct pattern, but it seems I would have to thread the gear shift. Bad idea? good idea? What are your thoughts.

Best thing to do would be to get yourself in on the last spot on the MGW Shifter group buy, and save 5% on the shifter.

Then you can use whatever type of shift knob you want, whether it be OEM or any M12x1.25 threaded knob, including the MGW Mustang Style Grippers with your choice of shaft and topper color:

(Not the mustang logos, of course)

Or your own custom colored Billetworkz shifter!

I ran into a couple snags that were not well documented. The Shift knob on the 2014-2015 is attached to the lever with a torx machine screw. I broke the knob removing it. Also the centering springs (fingers) held the shifter from dropping out the bottom so I removed them and ommited them. Shifter requires a little extra effort, but I never have to hunt for a gear and it doesn't feel like I am rowing a boat anymore. Here it is installed.
