The guy in the red car more likely than not has plenty of money for it and a beach house.

LOL! Call me crazy, but I would much rather drive my V6 Camaro vert than that Lambo Aventador even though it has twice the cylinders and over twice the hp. Make it the Aventador Roadster, however, and I would trade in a heartbeat! IMO driving a supercar that doesn't go topless would be like dating a supermodel who refuses to take off her bra

Among the changes from the 5th, I think there was about a 2" shortening of the wheelbase, which is not a minor difference even though much of the work was done to suit Cadillac (rather than Holden).

I am fully aware of what you just said. I'm not a "gearhead rookie" by any means. I'm speaking purely on the exterior appearance of the vehicle. Look, I'm not here to argue. IMHO (and many others), the 5th and 6th Gen. cars hold a striking resemblance to one another.

what, just because the 6th gen looks like a 7/8s scale model of the 5th gen?

You’re crazy. You chose the way worst ever analogy choices in the history of analogy choosing.

Obviously Chevy is still counting on resemblance to the 1st gen to be worth more than morphing it toward any of the next three generations or into something not readily recognizable as a Camaro. I happen to like the 3rd gen, but that might not work very well with a 9" wheelbase stretch and the taller/bulkier styling that is a common consequence of crash protection requirements.

Intended as an observation rather than an argument, "striking resemblance" does seem to be working for Jeep and BMW (Bangle years possibly excepted) . . .

Next round's on me if I can remember where I put the steins . . . . .

I think Chevy has figured out you can’t go 10-11 years between model refresh like they did with Gen 2-4.

With Gen 5, it feels like all of the planets aligned. Yes, it’s pretty bulky and visibility is similar to a tank and a bunch of other small things - but none of those seem to detract that much from the overall package.

With Gen 6, I think GM tried to address the above issues - and they did - I love the performance of the Gen 6 - but it also feels like the overall package lost a little something.

It could be that I just feel that way because I own a Gen 5 and not a Gen 6. We always tend to like what we have. Maybe Gen 6 appeals to a little different buyer. Who knows?

I do know when I started looking at Camaros, I kinda choked on the prices of a new 2017, so I started looking at used Gen 5’s instead and pretty quickly realized the Gen 5 was the one for me. Feel lucky every time I get to drive it.

As someone who only recently got back into Camaros I didn't even realize there was a 6th gen until I started studying up on them as I shopped for one. I rented a yellow SS vert from Hertz about a year ago and knew it had a bit more horsepower but at the time I didn't realize it was an all new 6th generation - I thought it was just a styling refresh. So I agree that to the casual observer they probably don't see much of a difference between 5th and 6th.

Cornerspeed92 - none of my car forum bookmarks go to a site home page. Maybe I'm poorer for that, maybe not.

Norm
Hi Norm, yeah, i was the same way as a novice C5 member, I never went to the home page. In fact i remember back in the beginning when "tramtwo" wrote and said nice job on getting the homepage, i didn't understand what he meant. A couple days later i just happened to see what he was talking about. I was fortunate to make to homepage for being the 1st to track their 1LE when i went to Laguna, and then to make the homepage again for what happened at FONTANA. The point of my thread was that this place has gotten "BORING" and since in the past the "MOD'S" seemed to be on a "GOD" like controlling state of mind and would change stuff daily....hence this thread!!

I remember this place being helpful, somewhat friendly most of the time, and fun. Norm, good to hear from you.
