Drag Radials

I will be the first to admit I know nothing about drag radials. Saying this don't be too mean with replies lol. I'm looking at Nitto's... Are they street legal and good for everyday driving?

Yes, they are street legal. Would I use them at the track probably not... I would go with a smaller wheel and bigger tire to gain some flex in the sidewall.

Im waiting until next year to go with the nitto 555r. I dont care to much about 1/4 times to actually change tires for the track. I drive to the track, beat the $hit out of my car and drive her home. I would feel stupid doing that with 18"s in the back. But yes it would work better.

Yeah I don't care enough to do a tire switch at the track so that's why I want something that will help catch traction at the track as well as be a dependable street tire. That P-Zero is a pure street tire. And to ToddSS, why wouldn't you use them at a track? They not make that big of a difference or something?

The Nitto's would be an improvement over stockers for sure but not nearly as much grip as Z06 wheels with a good DR's. Nitto's might work well for you if you don't have many mods. My closest track has a DA average of 7800' so I have to travel quite a bit to get to good air... the last thing I want is to show up and spin at line.

Bold is exactly what I did. I honestly didn't even think about the tires failing me like they did, but then again that wasn't the best track prep either. Where I was going at the only people that were breaking 8's were either the heavily modified dragsters or people launching their trucks in 4WD.

As of right now I'm bonestock, and plan to tune it as soon as I find one :/. Then I'll get the money to get the Vortech Supercharger kit. But I'm going to go ahead and get the radials because honestly those time's just pissed me off lol, plus I'm reading on the forums the P-Zeros don't last very long so I might as well start saving up.

275/40R20 looks to be the closest match http://www.nittotire.com/#index%2Etire%2Ent555r%2Esizes

Most the guys I know that have Nitto Drag Radials use them as their daily driver tires (on the car all the time).
I've used them on several of my daily driven cars. They work really well on dry pavement (street use), and they even work pretty well in the rain when they're new.
But a word of caution.
Once they start to wear down, they become pretty slippery in the rain. They can also hydroplane in the rain at higher speeds 65-75mph. So you need to be extra careful when driving in the rain once they become a little worn down.

I'll keep that in mind. How long did they last you?

I installed a pair of nittos 555r 305-35-20's on my car last week (stock rims). So far so good, but I have not tested them at the track. I will be at the track soon to see if they work. As you have stated, I do not want to change tires everytime I go to the track, so this is better that having the p-zeros. All I need is a decent 60' time and I'll be happy.

I agree... have you already been to the track with the stock tires? If so what were your 60FT?
