Not your post specifically no... Just a gentle reminder to all the people who are thinking of the auto just for the command start

test drove a auto today and i liked it.... 400hp is plenty for me, i dont think 26 less hp is very noticeable... what are some mods to get that hp up to bout 450 or so? i am new to cars so i dont know much.... also ik the torque on the auto is like 410... is there anyway to make that more too?

I say stick all the way. I'm a newbie at it but I brought mine with a stick and have a friend sit with me while I drive it home. and yes I had a little trouble but it was a awsome experience.

I went with the automatic for a couple of reasons. Since this is going to be my DD once the lease is up on my other car, I didn't want to deal with shifting in DFW rush hour traffic. Also, the wife did not grow up on Manual transmission like I did so I had to consider her experience and comfort level too.

Now, when I go for the SS Conv when it becomes available, then the story may change.

That being said...don't fall for trolling on this. Manual drivers like to put themselves on some sort of holy pedestal of car driving, but the reality is that driving a stick either becomes second nature (like driving an automatic) or never does, and it's fun when you get to enjoy it but sucks ass when you don't.

Get the car that you think you'll enjoy...a good mental exercise (if you know a little about driving stick) is to go about your day "pretending (as in, in your head)" to shift as you drive (if you own an auto now). Keep in mind the following:
-Rolling by letting off the brake is not possible in a stick. You'll have to commit to at least some gas pedal to inch up.
-You'll want to pop into neutral at stop lights. Remember to "shift" into first before it turns green. If you don't...oops.
-Try to think how fast you could coordinate shifting under heavy acceleration. Not everyone is a race car driver after all, so you'll be measuring against consistency with an auto. Miss a shift? Oops.

Note that none of the above are necessarily bad things, depending on your point of view. A manual can be a lot of fun when you get to enjoy it, but it can also suck the life out of you when you can't, if you can't abide by working around the above conditions.

Don't let anyone tell you that you aren't "driving" in an auto, or that it's slower, or any such shit. The L99 is a wonderful experience to drive (and yes, I know how to drive stick. Learned on an SRT4 belonging to a friend), and I don't regret it one bit, whether I'm doing a 0-60 run or I'm just crawling forward in traffic. At the end of the day, this is YOUR car, and it's up to YOU to enjoy it.

Well said.
I know how to drive a stick too, but bought the auto
and damn I have a lot of fun!

But auto is more consistant

And not always!

The faster Toyota Supra was the auto in the 1/4 mile.

doesn't auto beat the manual 0-60 MPH ? which is how I would be driving the vast majority of the time, just not going to be driving over 100MPH on city streets very often if ever. Not sure I would ever head out to the 1/4 drag strip, maybe after getting a supercharger installed just to see how it does but that's about it.

Not really. Then again there are more who think they can drive than can drive. Oh yea and everybody can drive better when they are drunk. If you don't believe me then ask them.
