I’m in the driveline business and although I haven’t personally seen our Driveshaft out of the car, I asked one of my biggest customers the other day how many failed center bearings he’s seen in Camaros. His reply was, ‘not too many but they’re non replaceable bearings.’ Sadly, many of today’s Driveshaft’s are non serviceable. They ‘want’ you to buy a new one from the dealer.

Check with The Driveshaft Shop who is a sponsor here or Powertrain Industries, Inland Empire Driveline or maybe someone local like Houston Drivetrain. Many of my customers find solutions to ‘non serviceable’ driveline problems. If they don’t, some offer complete shaft replacement for less than a dealer charges.

Gm part number 22810753. I think the only reason it broke was motor was out 5 months and trans was leaning. Transmission mount rubber was broke which probably cause the bearing to go when i got it back together and running

Sounds like the center u-joint is non replaceable and staked-in. There may be a way to remove the bolt holding the midship yoke on without removing the joint. Sounds shaky to me.

There is no bolt on ours, when u pull the 2 pieces apart the carrier bearing is on the spline side and slide off thru the spline. Its held in place by a snap ring.

Well, that looks easy enough. I wonder why two of my customers in the business didn’t describe this kind of shaft/bearing when I asked them? Something must be different.

Dealership sells them 75 so they are serviceable and only a snap ring holds them
