Squeal when I accellerate at low speeds (audio clip included)

ADMIN: Sorry if this is the wrong forum. I originally posted this in the "Warranty" forum (because my cars is still under warranty), but since this is an operational issue, I thought it might belong here instead. If I'm wrong, please tell me, or just delete this post.

I've found a few threads on this topic, but none with an audio sample that sounds like mine. I have a 2015 Camaro SS automatic convertible with Brembo brakes. Just over 9,000 miles on the odometer.

It makes a high-pitched squeal when I accelerate from a dead stop. It begins at about 8 miles an hour and pauses while changing gears. I can only hear this at low speeds, but because the sound is not very loud, I don't know if it continues doing it at higher speeds.

I took it to the dealership, and after two days they said the sound is a normal characteristic of the brakes over time, and that it's mentioned in a bulletin, #PIC5590B (you can read the whole bulletin here, but until the end, it mostly deals with braking issues). When I got home I read the bulletin and at the end it says, "A groan type noise may be heard when stopping quickly or moving forward slowly from a complete stop." Well, I call B.S. because this sound isn't a "groan", and there's no way Brembo would have that squeal as a "characteristic" of their brakes. My warranty ends in November, so I obviously want to get this solved before then. I haven't called the dealer back yet because I'm hoping someone here might give me something to say to them besides, "I don't believe you."

This is a clip I made of the sound. Listen in the background and you'll hear what sounds like a loose belt or squeaking brakes. If you listen closely you'll hear it pause between gear changes.

Thanks - for some reason it was set to "private." It should work now, but here's a direct link. Please let me know if that doesn't work

Sounds more like a chirping sound to me. Something like a bearing on a pulley or something? But the gear changing thing has me puzzled but as an l99 owner that is not normal like they told you which you know of course. Thats not brakes either maybe another dealer is in order? Gorgeous ride I hope you get her sorted!

Thanks for the replies. I suspected a bearing or pulley too. I'm wondering if the dealer just wants me to be satisfied long enough for the warranty to run out. I'd guess this could be big money to fix. I might send this to GM and get their opinion. Better yet, maybe I'll contact Brembo and let them know that a GM dealer is badmouthing them and making them a scapegoat for a GM issue. And thanks, qcman for the compliment!

Well, if it stops while changing gears maybe the tranny is crying.

When changing gears you load and unload the trans on manual, sort of the same for a automatic it may be your tensioner pulley bearing as they are known to be cheap, other than that maybe a rock in the brake calipers..more specifically the pad the first things I would look for....Good Luck

Does it go away when you hit the brake? On a road trip I went threw an area they were paving and I must have picked up a rock in the caliper but it made such a horrendous noise I pulled over thinking My engine went. when I stopped it stopped. i backed out of the spot I pulled in and it was gone. Freaked me out. I guess they do pick up rocks. I had pulleys making my belt squeal that noise on my last truck.

It sounds like my breaks did. Factory brembos squeak. Try tapping the brake as jd said. If it stops under break pressure problem solved.

No, it does it regardless of braking action.

Brakes are an unlikely culprit because if I let off the gas while the car is still rolling, the noise stops.
