Just some question bout the z28(new owner)

Hello,

1.I just bought the z28 this week. It was basically an upgrade from the SS. I noticed some different things when I was testing the car out. When I accelerated the car and shifted gears the RPM's would shoot up when I released the clutch after shifting the gears. Is that normal or do I need to be concerned about the car?

2.Also do they offer the z28 rim at chevy or do I have to settle for replicas. I'd like another set of the rims.

1. Sounds like the clutch may be slipping a bit.

2. I'm sure there is a part number somewhere since the car is only a few years old, but you'll pay 5x as much on a GM wheel as you will on a replica.

appreciate the reply first of all.
Just wanted to check out the prices on the rims. Was considering getting another set.

As for the slipping, I guess I will be heading to chevy to get checked out. I was hoping it wouldn't come to that.

It's been awhile since I bought my spare set of wheels but I paid about $600 per wheel plus there's a $50 core charge per wheel. so $650 per wheel.

Clutch for sure, had a drag bike that did this with a bad clutch.

Keep an eye on the Ebay, Facebook forums, and here for used sets of OEM WHEELS, they pop up often.

I had some issues with the clutch on my Z28 which only had 1000 miles on it at the time.

I replaced the friction plate and pressure plate and all was well afterwards.

I think my issue was due to adjustment of the preload on the pressure plate being done incorrectly as after visual inspection there didn't seem to be anything obvious wrong with the parts we removed. I kept them as spares for now..

The replicas are not the same wheels. Get the factory ones. You can get them from GM I have had to replace one. As others have said they show up on ebay from time to time.

There is a reason the replicas are so cheap. They are not even close to the same quality wheel.

Also the replicas that I have seen do not the same back spacing or width as the GM Z/28 wheels do, also just a cast wheel made to look like the real ones but more for they guys that want to put Z/28 look wheels on there none Z/28 camaro

I'll get her up to chevy asap for the clutch problem. I knew something was wrong. She didn't feel right at all. As for the replicas I had no intention of purchasing them. I was just making sure that I was right an not cheating myself by getting the gm wheels and paying all that money. I'll let you guys know whats going on with the car as soon as I do.
