L99 Supercharger Suggestions
Hi. I have a 2010 Camaro automatic and I really want to add a supercharger along with the CAI. I was looking at Edelbrock but I’m not 100% sure as I’ve been reading that the Magnuson is better.
Can someone let me know what would be a good package to purchase? Looking to spend up to 8k on the kit. Thanks. |

If it were my money I would get the ECS 1500 kit.

Its garaged in the winter so I only drive it from April - October. Its not my everyday car so it has very low mileage. I’m looking to get close to 600hp but will settle for 550hp.

I'd first suggest the AGP twin turbo kit, easy install and will make your goal with ease. If your stuck on a supercharger Maggie TVS2300...

+1 AGP TT
Takes 80-90hp more to run a supercharger at that power level than a good efficient turbo system. So what would get you 550whp on a blower puts you around 640whp on a turbo for free, with the same stress on the engine. Without swapping a cam or anything else, our base TT system will put you right in the 600-650whp range with nothing else needed but what comes in the box. If you’re looking for 550-600 rwhp then go with ADM performance stage 3 kit. It should save you a boat load of money and get you right at your goals. It includes a smaller upper pulley, a cam, bigger injectors, etc.
If you have to have one of your original two options I’d go with a Maggie Heartbeat supercharger. It has a superior design over the Edelbrock.

Get the best of both worlds, or what I like to call a belt driven turbo. You can hit those power levels NO PROBLEM with a Procharger Centrifugal Supercharger and there are many advantages imo. I've had 11 Supercharged Vehicles over the years; Roots, Twin Screw, & (3) Centrifugal set ups. Dont get me wrong there's nothing like big boost going through a twin screw or roots supercharger (IF THE MOTOR CAN HANDLE IT). BUT with low to moderate boost on a non built motor I prefer the Centrifugal for a few reasons. For starters it only gives you that extra power when you want it, which means it only puts that extra stress on the motor at those times. And the way it delivers the power is very much like a turbo meaning it just keeps pulling and pulling and pulling. Best part is because of the design you can get amazing gas mileage (if it matters) have oem comfort and manners, but touch the go pedal and HOLY WTF JUST HAPPENED. I have a High Output Stage II Set Up with an Upgraded 3 Core Intercooler, Pro Flow Surge System, Drilled & Pinned Crank Balancer, (3) Procharger Pulleys, etc... Skys the limit on the amount of HP it can make, it all comes down to how much are you willing to push the motor, LOL .... Not the most beautiful set up but I drive with the hood down and don't fear anything that pulls up next to me

I'm very pleased with the Magnuson Heartbeat. Have not put it on the dyno yet.

For that power level I would do a lsa blower, it saves you money for other parts, like a zl1 fuel pump, suspension ect., but on that note I do love my agp tt kit.

It’s a major investment, consider exactly what you expect, how will it be used, and your budget. Make a plan. What works for someone else might not be ideal for your application. Good luck.

I'm in the same situation. Though my (expected gains)won't be as high as yours I went with the Heartbeat based on the instant trq a SC provides and the reliability it's reported to have. It is not cheap and for me was a hard check to write for a car that sits in the garage 6 months of the year but you only live once.

I installed the Maggie on my 2010 L99. Didn't have to pull the fascia. I have the Cold Air inductions intake. I had to buy a new connecting pipe from the SC to the CAI but they make them.
Note: If you have a early 2010, you should have the dealer update your ECM firmware before you install the SC. I ordered mine in 09 and the ECM firmware was missing the SC tables so no matter what I did, the Camaro wouldn't start after the SC install. I had to take it to the dealer to load the stock firmware then my tune worked.

I did the ADM LSA conversion with GPI heads/cam package. Like what that did. ADM LSA conversion best bang for the buck...
