air / fuel ratio
air fuel optimum is 14 to 7 correct? at wide open throttle what are you guys opinion on an AFR for a highway car ? I kinda need to be conservative for I will possibly driving high speed at extended duration not a 1/4 at a time but possibly 40 miles at a time and not want to lean out the dreaded number 7 cylinder.

What mods are done to the car?
What fuel? It is easier to use Lambda scale, that way it dosen't matter what fuel we are talking about. |

[QUOTE= not want to lean out the dreaded number 7 cylinder.[/QUOTE]
This is a discussion for the tuner and depends on your setup and goals. Some engines like more fuel some less. As an example; for boosted applications to avoid knock the tuner can reduce timing, increase fuel, or reduce boost. The trick is to optimize all three areas and complete these adjustments in segments and finally smooth out transitions.

I found 12.3 made more power na than 12.5 in 4th gear on dyno, but 12.5 feels faster on the street. On the supercharged setup my tuner shoots for 11.3:1 but lets it climb a tad leaner towards redline. Close to 12:1. 93 octane.

14.7 to one is stoichiometric and is not optimal for power , but good for emissions and the engine will run smooth . You want a to datalog it using the fuel you will be using. Somewhere around 12.8 to 1 to 13.2 to 1 is about right for power .Check with your tuner for the best air to fuel ratio .

I have a 2011 SS L99 with LT's, VMAX ported TB, off road mids and an xpipe and according to my gauges at cruise I am showing 14.69 and at WOT I am showing 12.33 and this is what my tuner has tuned in the car at WOT. I put down 365rwhp and 371rwtq and she is a beast on the street, and fun..
