Brake Pads
What brake pad replacement do you recommend? Just looking to find a decent price with good feedback on some. Also how difficult would it be for a first timer?

Silverstorm, i use these from Auto Zone. The last pair (front) lasted me around 30K miles. Absolutely no break dust to deal with. Just pick up some brake cleaner, anti-squeal lube and brake grease and you will not have any problems. Do yourself a favor and do one side at a time (taking apart and installing the new) You may want to replace your rotors as well if they are worn. I used to get mine milled but it is just as easy to put new rotors and pads on.

Brake grease that I use:
https://www.autozone.com/brake-and-p...ant/182197_0_0 This is the brake quiter I just got this at the store today as I did my front this morning so not sure why it says it is not available, but it works great. Just remember to follow the directions and let it dry for a couple of minutes before installing the pads. https://www.autozone.com/brake-and-p...uch/526715_0_0

I just replaced pads and rotors with Power Stop Z23 evolution from Auto Anything. They had good reviews and found some guys on here recommend them. They are on sale now with free shipping. Install and brake in was easy.

Any FF-rated pad will be fine for enegetic street driving.
You do NOT have to get pads that have the "roller skate" feature. Be prepared to buy the front pins SEPARATELY from the front pads, because the vendors can't seem to include the front pins. Wilwood doesn't even include the front clips. You will need to buy the pins (clips too are included) separately from various vendors on Amazon or eBay. Price is $20 for the front pins and clips. |

Replacement of pads and rotors is extremely easy on Gen 5 Camaros.
The hardest part of the job is getting the old rotor off the hub.
Put a SMALL amount of anti-seize on the mating surface of the hub when you install the new rotor.
Be sure the retaining pins for the pads are driven BELOW FLUSH when installing the pins.

When the SS option is selected, it shows correct pads and clips, but no pins to be seen.
Note too, it only shows two clips. You need FOUR clips to complete the job. Bigbear1003 did you receive new front and rear pins with your order? Did you have to re-use any of your pre-existing pins or clips? I also note that the pad material is described as "ceramic." Ceramic pads have less stopping capability than metallic pads. http://www.atlautosports.com/ceramic...ic-brake-pads/ Our SS cars came with metallic pads as the OEM type material. |

W.E.G You are correct the pins were not included. All I did was sprayed the old ones down with brake cleaner, lightly sanded then down with fine sand paper just to bring back the shine (not for cosmetic reasons just to make sure that they are clean) then sprayed them down again, greased them up and installed them. Yes, you are correct that the SS came with metallic pads in which causes a lot of brake dust. The carbon fiber brake pads that I recently installed and have used in the past do not generate brake dust which saves on cleaning the rims, keeping it off the side of the car as well as the build up on the rotors and calipers. I feel they stop the car the same if not better then the OEM pads and rotors. Here are the pads and rotors that I used from Auto Zone and the finally cost was around 280.00. The metal clips were included.
