I actually thought about buying an auto for better gas mileage and easier driving. Then, I kicked myself for ever even thinking like that.

OF COURSE, I'm buying a stick! That's the ONLY way to go! When you buy a sports car, you NEED to feel the control over the car....or at least I do. I control my car. My car does NOT control me. I love stick and will continue to buy stick until my legs won't let me anymore.....or I move to Austin. Stop and go rush hour in Austin sucks.....bad. That deserves an auto.

It really boils down to a few points:

1) Do you live in a congested, large city?

2) Do you plan on economy, or "spirited" driving?

3) Have you EVER driven a stick -- much less one with 300-400+HP before?

The answers should explain themselves.

6/10ths of Camaro owners will prolly opt for the Auto. And, that's

Some others will just feel the need. the need for speed.

A manual makes a higher performance (SS and above) vehicle "FEEL" more ---- like a higher performance vehicle. For those, nothing else will do.

If you dont get it, get an AFM.

You may be better-served by learning a "stick" with something --- else, first.

(I will have the LS3 + manual, for now, unless a 'charged LSA makes its way my way first).

EDIT: Well, I may be obtuse here, but the LS or LT may be a good model to learn "clutch-in, clutch-out" for the first time. I welcome other opinions.

Im am buying a manual SS, and it will be my daily driver. I love my commute, i love to drive period. The manual will be so much more fun to drive, if i wanted my drive to be as boring as my job i would get an auto.
On another note, dont expect the auto to get better gas mileage. The manual will be better, for the simple fact that i can start in 2nd and cruise along at 50mph in 6th on the freeway. With an auto what ever mileage it gets, you are pretty much stuck with. Mileage in a manual depends on the driver. The AFM is almost never active, this was the case on the AFM Silverados also.

Manual for me. AFM or not. This will be my first manual transmission car and I'm going to enjoy it for all it's worth.

BTW, I figured out the nickname for my new car.

"Hey hun, I'm gonna go spend some time in the rowing club."

RWNGCLB ftw!

This is very true. Any car with a 4 cylinder in particular. Engines with low torque are tricky to get the hang of becuase you have to give it some gas, but not too much gas.

With the beast of the SS, you could just lift your foot off the clutch without giving it any gas and the car will start rolling.

ARGHH!! Decisions, Decisions...

At first I was dead set on the manual (wife and I already know how to drive it). Then, with the remote start option combined with leather seats and cold/hot days, I started thinking about the Automatic (AFM is not a major factor in this). I'm confused.

Oh well. I have a couple more months to decideI do know that either way, it will be BadA#^

The downside to auto start is GAS MILEAGE. With your engine running and you going nowhere your mileage is ZERO...It appears if you get the 2SS you get heated seats, but that won't help with the heat in the summer...
