Tried finding an oil filter at the local autozone....dont carry one for a 2010 Camaro V6, but does carry the Caddy 3.6 filter. Anyone know if they are the same?

Look up the 3.6 Cadillac CTS filter in the book at the store, compare the numbers and see if it matches the filter number you need! Problem solved.... no?

Its the same on K&N's website. BTW,Its a cartridge.

I'd be interested in a picture of a v-6 cartridge after the initial change at break-in to see how much metal is in it. Any DIY-ers out there able to do this?

Owners Manual section 11-2
Engine Oil w/ Filter

3.6L V6 Engine : 6-qts
6.2L V8 Engine : 8-qts
(L99 & LS3)

V6 : SAE 5w-30 GM6094M
Do Not use 10w-40,20w-50 or any other viscosity grade oil not recommended

V8 : SAE 5w-30 / GM4718M (L99 & LS3) Mobil 1 is Factory fill ..
Do Not use 10w-40,20w-50 or any other viscosity grade oil not recommended

GM#12593333 ( PF459G )
AC Delco Filter for the V6L # PF459G / **PF2129
**this part # is easier to find at most Auto Parts Stores ..

Wix / Napa Gold : #57090 / #7090 @ $ 7.69

If you are Military / Veteran always ask your local Auto Parts Store for the discount ! !

(Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts @ around $5.10 ea.)

Left one is Wix / napa# 57090,7090 / Right one is AC DELCO #PF2129

If you can see metal in it you're probably in trouble.

not neccessarily. its not uncommon for some shavings to end up in the filter on the first oil change. just part of the engine break-in

Maybe 30+yrs ago.
Today the engine is so well engineered and manufactured that is a thing of the past. Thats why the manufacturers don't even recommend an early oil change after the first 500 miles anymore.
