As long as the tire is listed on fitting on that width of rim, you should be good to go...

Obviously, you want the outside diameter of the tire to be the same, or as close as possible to factory.

225 60 18 will give you a similar overall size ((tire + rim, within 1%) of the V6 2LT RS standard tires.

Should be here in about a week. From everyone I talked to, to get wheels and tires you were looking at pretty much $2k. Tirerack was the best I could find. Just some food for thought.
What about the TPMS?

TPMS is going to go crazy anyway... There should be an option to disable it in the winter.

I would LOVE an option to disable it in winter but I read somewhere on here that if TPMS wasn't functioning, the car wouldn't shift from Park? Maybe not an issue for manual trans guys...

Did you have to pay any additional duty charges when they arrived?

As much as i don't want to order from tirerack, I just might have too. Waiting to hear back from the dealership on a cost for heritage steelies + winter rubber.

Nope, there is a 30$ duties fee included in the total. It's a good thing, since UPS tends to overcharge duties when not pre-paid...

To save those interested some time below are 3 different 18" wheel and tire packages I priced on Tirerack.com. I am looking to get something for my 2LT/RS.

All package prices include Tire pressure Sensors, metal valves, mounting/balancing, delivery to Richmond Hill and all taxes/duty.

Package 1: $1,874.31 (USD)
Wheel -18" x 7.5" Sport Tuning Turbing Bright Silver Paint ($99/rim)
Tire - 245/55 R18 Pirelli Scorpion Ict $ Snow ($169/tire)

Package 2: $1,841.48 (USD)
Wheel - 18" x 7.5" Sport Tuning Turbing Bright Silver Paint ($99/rim)
Tire - 225/60 R18 Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25 ($153/tire)

Package 3: $1,522.22 (USD)
Wheel - 18" x 7.5" Sport Tuning Turbing Bright Silver Paint ($99/rim)
Tire - 225/60 R18 Firestone Winterforce ($92/tire)

As a comparison I called a tire shop in Markham and for 17" rims and 'Continental' Tires they were asking $1,690 ..... NOT INCLUDING TIRE PRESSURE SENSORS!

Anyone with experience/thoughts on the Firestone Winterforce...quite a big savings?

I ordered a 2LT and will run 19" OEM rims with the tires that the car comes with for Summer and the 18" Heritage Steel wheels for Winter.

I specifically asked my salesman at the time of purchase to ASK GM engineering/parts dept to confirm the THINNEST tire size for my Camaro for Winter as I wanted best traction. He told me (finally) that the parts dept told me that the minimum size that GM recommends is: P235/55R18, or 2% thinner than OEM. I have trouble beleiving this, but I have to take it as I am told. I have written GM a few times and they have been very good in getting back to me quickly. I am still waiting to see what they say about my prices, as I have asked them to "do better".

Anyone have ANY confirmations from other GM dealers about how THIN the tires can be? What sizes are you, my fellow canucks, putting on YOUR cars?

I will post what GM tells me as it happens!

thanks!

This is a lot of information. Can someone sum up what is needed for an SS RS for winter or all-season tires?
