Badge removal

There are alot of videos on you tube. I used a heat gun to warm up the old ones to about 90 degrees. Hairdryer works fine too. Don't go over 120 degrees, you just want to the old glue soft. Then I used fishing line and worked it back and forth behind the old emblem. Took less than 5 minutes each. Next, I used Goo Gone Automotive to get the residual glue off with a microfiber and plastic scraper - the kind you use to remove glue when doing Paintless Dent Repair (Not necessary). Just let the goo gone soak in for a few minutes and work it with your finger and microfiber cloth. Took maybe 10 minutes per side. After it's cleaned off you want the surface to be free of any filmy residue so I used McGuires Ultimate Compound which will not scratch the clearcoat. You can use alcohol as well. I found it useful to use blue painters tape across the top of the old emblem before removal so I had a line of reference for applying the new badge. When you put the new badge on make sure you are straight because there is no repositioning. It sticks tight!
