Manual SS Driveshaft diameter?

Does anyone know the tube diameters of the front section of a Manual SS driveshaft? Specially I’m looking for the area directly behind the transmission Guibo and then behind that where the diameter increases before the carrier bearing.

Thanks!

You can buy a caliper for a few dollars and measure it yourself.

A string of 40 LED Christmas lights will circle it seven times and a 9V battery can power them.

Why didn't I think of that? Because I don't own a Gen 5 Camaro in order to measure its driveshaft.... I'm removing the 4L80E and installing a Camaro Spec TR6060 in my BMW E39 LS swap and trying to determine if the I can make a hybrid driveshaft using the Camaro and E39 components.

A weld yoke from Denny's Driveshafts fit the E39 tube perfectly in order to install the 4L80E slip yoke so I was hoping the Camaro unit was of similar tube diameter. What better source to try and learn that data then the very board where I bought the transmission?

Anyone willing to help would be greatly appreciated.

So why don't you ask Denny's driveshaft what would fit?

Most of us on the Camaro forum don't have, will never have, don't ever want to have, a BMW. ******s who don't know what a turn signal is drive BMWs.

You could have clarified your question in the first post instead of repeating the same stupid question.
I'm not ready to lay on my back and use a caliper on my driveshaft so you can have your answer. You can go to any used car dealer with a gen 5 Camaro on the lot and measure it yourself.

Jesus H Christ on a sidecar. He wasn't asking for anyone to go climb under their car to measure for him. He was asking if anyone knew. Which usually means beforehand experience. Why invent the wheel all over again if someone here has the answer in the back of their head rattling around somewhere?

I just don't get the whole snide unhelpful habits of some respondents to questions. You don't know the answer, MTFO!

And no OP I don't know what the diameter is. I'm also not sure exactly what your asking but I do have a caliper and might, just in the interests of being helpful, go measure my driveshaft for you. Not sure it will apply to your application, since I have a V6 and the driveshaft is probably smaller than the ones on the V8s. You might have to wait a night or two before I get a chance to crawl under my car though.

We all know he could look up the answer on the internet.
And the fact is David's Driveshafft doesn't know the answer is a sign of incompetence. Surely David could look up the diameter.

Is that enough reality for you today?

Thank you for being willing to measuring it for me but I cant ask you (or anyone else for that matter) to go through all that effort. I appreciate your offer to help though. As you said, it was worth a shot to ask and see if anyone happened to know and would be so kind as to share the info.

I'm sure DSS or G-Force would know but they specialize in producing & selling high end driveshafts & axles not helping some guy build a temporary unit. Once the TR6060 is installed and running then I'll finish up the 8.8 rear end conversion that I'm also working on. After that project is done it will be time for the permanent drive shaft (a CV joint style shaft from one of the above vendors).

Thanks again sir.

Jesus, I stayed out of this until now. Ask Denny’s (a customer of my company) for the part number of the weld yoke that worked. I’ll then give you the tube OD AND wall thickness. (ID) It will be something like, 2-28-327 or similar.

Nope, just working. "Walter" is going out of his way to belittle me and bust my chops but that's cool. I'm the new guy with the LS BMW so I'm fair game...

Moto, I appreciate it sir. I've got the specs already as the car is running and driving with the driveshaft as currently setup for the 4L80E. When I modified the front of the BMW shaft to accept the 4L80E slip yoke & 1350 u-joint I used a Dana-spicer 3-28-157 which fit the BMW tube perfectly. Its specs are 3.0" o.d. for use with .095" wall thickness tube with a butt weld diameter of 2.81" and it is those specs that I hope a stock manual SS driveshaft tube is close enough in order to hybrid the two.

That's an awesome offer and I'd like to take you up on it. And, If it works for you, I can do it in a way without you having to bother with shipping. PM sent!
