BMR Lower Control Arms hitting 17” wheels???

I had a bunch of BMR suspension installed about two months ago and I tried putting on my race star 17” wheels to go to the track last night and the lower control arm (part #TCA028) bolt is hitting my wheel when I put the car down. I tried putting some 7mm spacers on and that didn’t help. I didn’t have any issues like this on stock lower control arms. Even if I grind the bolt head so it doesn’t hit when the car is on the ground, I think when it squats it’ll hit. What’s really frustrating is they literally advertise these to fit with 17” wheels. Any help would be appreciated

Thank you. I spoke on the phone briefly with a tech person and sent an email to the gm tech email but haven’t heard back.

Grind bolt head, grind halve to rubber bushing off and put extra washers under top nut and will not ever touch it again under any conditions, same thing happened to me. I read same ad saying will work with 17s but other people have had same issue, or go to fe3 sway bar style but is inferior to fe4 sway bar

Rear sway bars are not as important on a drag strip application so the FE3 setup would be ok.

Just wanted to update. I cut the bushing under the LCA and added some washers up top like suggested and that seems to have fixed it. I put some blue painters tape on the bolts that were hitting so once I go to the track this week I’ll see if the tape is cut up after some racing, although I think it’s fixed for good. Thanks for the help everyone

Yea, If your other solution didn't work grinding down the head of the bolt or switching to an fe3 sway bar will get rid of that problem. I just switched to the fe3 style sway bar and end links. Works wonderfully.

I had a set of bmr rear lca I installed and promptly removed as the stock rear lower control arms fit better with more clearance on my 17" weld wheels. They were pre-owned and thought I got a bad set or something guess they are just poorly designed.

They sure seem to be. I had a friend with welds having the same issue, and when I called bmr and told them it happened with welds and race stars they told me “something else must be going on”. Unfortunately, they weren’t very helpful in solving this issue, although I have really liked all the other BMR parts I’ve installed on my car, so don’t take this as if I’m knocking BMR.

I got the same non helpful response from bmr as well and feel the same about being happy with everything else from them. I have the trailing arms, toe rods and their Xtreme anti roll bar, all good products

Exactly, it’s just unfortunate that the lower control arms are designed the way they are, especially when they’re advertised to fit with 17’s. I pretty much have their whole catalog haha! Maybe they’ll redesign them seeing as how many people are having this issue

Do you have a fe4 style sway bar?
