LS is a V6 right? I have an auto too. Interesting topic....since the dealer service, has it recurred?
Could be a gremlin specific to your car only and not a factory defect.

I'd tread lightly and not give the perception of orchastrating an interwebs campaign against GM.
Just saying...

The accelerator was disengaged just like in an onstar style police shutdown. No warnings. No warning lights. Put it in park, floored it repeatedly, Nothing but idle.

Every vehicle that uses what GM calls "Drive by Wire" is susceptible to this type of symptom, which is as far as I know, every manufacturer. Your car was not hacked. It is having an issue in the communications system of the Electronic Brake Control Module. Without it being right in front of me, I would suspect wiring or a terminal on the communications line to the EBCM has a fault. It disabled your throttle pedal for safety reasons. Toyota a few years back was having an issue of the cars taking off, that was because of the lack of fail safe that GM has implemented. I would rather not have my Camaro take off when it has a fault versus failing to accelerate.

Where can we find the mechanical linkage mod to replace this

Not the same thing at all. Back in the day, failures tended to be more mechanical in nature (and even the electrical ones were relatively easy to track down). Nowadays, you need a scan tool just to get started, and if the failure is in any way electronic in nature you aren't going to fix it at the side of the road or even MacGyver it well enough to get you home or to a shop.

The closest thing to a hack in those times was if a passenger reached over and started messing with something that could control what the car was doing. In which case the "fix" was to kick said passenger out of the car and leave him at the side of the road.

The accelerator was disabled electronically, just like you see in the onstar police shutdown vids, except there was no warning and no trouble lights or errors visible.

Disabling the controls of a vehicle in motion for "Safety" reasons is asinine. Kind of like cops shooting a suicidal person to death for their own good. If they are all susceptible, every one needs to be removed from the roads.

ALL new vehicles are multiple computers all talking to each other. Just sucks when one malfunctions. Not so bad in a industrial machine but in car malfunctions can be deadly.
Not just a “GM” thing.

Chuck Hutton, yeah; I remember them. Lived down there 12 years. afaik, good reputable dealer.

But the time I lived down there, they were making the transition of fixing a car/truck with a screwdriver/channelocks to computerized diagnostics.

Biggest mistake the car industry made, IMO.

If I found a towel-head diatribe like that, I would yank all stuff to do with a computer, and do "analog" throttle linkage, etc. Worked in the past.

OP wrote “I am insulted that GM finds it funny”

I did not see anything on the paperwork that indicates anyone found it funny. Looks like the dealership took it serious and attempted to resolve the issue.

Put a tin foil hat on your roof antenna. You’ll be ok.
