1LE Tire Question
Hey all. I have a question regarding the stock Goodyear tires. Friday, I had new rears installed on our car. The stock size of 285/35/20. When we went that evening to pick up the car after hours, I noticed that the tire on right side was the 92Y , while the correct 100Y was mounted on the left. I called them and said I was not happy with this, and they indicated that no 100Y rights were available at this time (which I have heard can happen), and that I would be fine with the 92Y. I do not feel that this was a decision that they should have made without consulting me, but if this is true, I have much bigger things going on to worry about it.
I understand that the 100Y has about a 300 lb higher load capability than the 92Y, and obviously GM selected the 100Y for a reason, but was hoping someone here had experience with this situation before I make a move on this. Thanks in advance for your help. |

You are correct they should have asked before installing them.
I would ask them if they intend to swap out the 92Y's for 100Y's FOR FREE when they become available. The tires are spec'd for a reason. I doubt the bozo behind the counter is more qualified than the engineers to make the determination on correct tire spec. I would be upset. If it's a chain store I would bump it up to the company. Also frequently there is a price difference between 92Y's and 100Y's.

I would tell them you want to speak to the owner and tell him you want another 100y or a full refund. should they fail to satisfy you contact the BBB and your state attorney general's office and Goodyear tire . They pulled a fast one on you and thought you wouldn't catch it .

Thanks for the responses guys. I just got off the phone with Goodyear and they are in agreement that the 92Y should come off. They would not tell me the difference between the two tires stating that was proprietary, but none the less, suggested to get the tire off the car.

Well I called the tire shop and right off the bat before I could say anything they said that a 100Y was on order and they would call me when it was in.

Hopefully they are a stand up shop and take care of it no charge.
Good luck
