Could use a little advice choosing a S/C

I am just about completely burned out on doing searches so hopefully you guys can help point this FI newb in the right direction. I have very little experience with FI, other than swapping a pulley on my old 2000 GTP that I had about 15 years ago. My goal as of right now is to get at least 500rwhp and eventually max out around 600, oh and with as much tq as possible. While I do plan to do some drag racing and possibly enter a few autocross events, I mainly just want to get from one stoplight to the next as fast as possible. My car isn’t necessarily a DD (I only put about 7k on it per year) but I do drive it quite a bit so I really can’t see myself wanting to get to the power level where I’m constantly needing to upgrade and/or replace broken parts. As of right now, I’m really leaning towards the SLP 2300 kit. I know they’re discontinued but they still seem to be the best bang for the buck, reliable, and most importantly.... the easiest to install. I can get the Whipple 2.9 for only $800 more but I really think that might be overkill for my 600hp goal, not to mention I’ve read that the 2300s actually put down more tq out of the box. So I guess my first question is, are there any reasons why I should be concerned about them being discontinued? Second, should I do the tuner kit instead and just put the extra $700 toward some better injectors? I already have a ZL1 pump in my 1LE so I’m not sure I would need the BAP, at least not right away. I don’t think I would need the programmer either, I already have a SCT tuner with lifetime tunes so hopefully DynoSteve could get me going with an email tune until I can get on a dyno. Any thoughts or suggestions? I’m all ears. TIA

For your power goals hands down the LSA kit is the best bang for your buck. Theres a few guys who do these kits ADM and the guy i used Lance Draeger both make a nice kit. The ZL1 pump and controller without a BAP is plenty for 650rwhp on 93 pump

Yes, I did. I got tons of old search results referring to ADM's LSA conversion kit however I can't for the life of me find it for sale anywhere. I searched all over but all I can find are parts for the swap and not the actual conversion kit itself. I'll see what I can find on Lance Draeger, haven't heard his name yet.

No, not really. I had read that there was some lag associated with the centri blowers (same reason I haven't looked into turbos) and also they required more maintenance. From what I have read, the instant power delivered from PD blowers is more what I'm going for with a mostly street car. Is that true? They seemed to be about the same price either way so I didn't look much further into it.

LSA, been there. First page of my build page has the install guide if you want to see what it takes to self install.

ZL1 Fuel pump and FPCM will get you there...

I know people on here hate them. But I bought an Edelbrock Eforce system from DynoSteve back in March. He gave me a heck of a deal. I Installed it myself and then me and my son drove it over to him to Dyno tune. I made 508HP at the wheels with no other Mods. It was also a conservative tune. I wanted to do long road trips in it and not worry about getting bad gas and getting detonation problems. The install was really easy. I make 7lbs of boost. I've driven it from Chicago to Denver and back plus a few other 500 and 600 mile road trips in it. It's a blast to drive they make pretty good low end torque.

Oh I know I will "want" more but I've got 3 kids in school so unfortunately I'll have to start thinking about college tuition soon, ugh! My wife is already going to kill me when she hears about this. lol That Whipple does look pretty nice but I'm starting to like this LSA idea, at least it will prevent me from getting too crazy since there is a limit to what it can do.

I already have a ZL1 fuel pump (1LE), I just assumed I had the FPCM too? Or is that not the case? I just went through those instructions again last night, I think that might be a fun winter project... and it may take me all winter to do it. I think I'll get a hold of Andy and get a quote. Thanks everyone for the advice, much appreciated.

FPCM can be reprogrammed if needed. Since you have the ZL1 pump, you should be good to go. 1LEs do great with this kit — heads and cam would make it roar. Still get great results with just the kit and a pulley...
