Whipple 2.9 jackshaft

So while on my way to work today I heard a thud then lost power steering, alt..... Figured I had lost my belt, nope blower pulley was laying on my rack and pinion snapped off at the jackshaft. Does anyone know where I can purchase a replacement jackshaft? Whipple says I need to send them the blower and I'm looking at 1400+ to repair it.

I am not familiar with the setup but it looks like there was a bolt in the center that snapped. Can you extract the bolt and install a new one with the pulley? The drive looks ok. If the shaft seized you will be out money.

There isn't a stud in the end of the shaft, I looks to have broken off at the last thread. I have the pulley but the rest is somewhere along the road

Maybe this will help. Just looking at the picture it looks where it is broken is threaded. Is that the case? Is there a hub that the four bolts go into and do you have that? Can you post a pic of the back side of the pulley you recovered?

So I have the pulley and the hub that the pulley bolts to, the stud looking portion that's sticking out from the blower is now missing. I'll post a better picture of every thing tomorrow

Even if you can fix this the question still remains as to why it broke.

In the exploded view it looks like they use a rod or a stud to hold the hub on. Given what is showing in where it broke in your picture it looks like they're using a stud and the broken piece of the stud is still in the jack shaft. The only thing that looks odd is the dark center since if it was a solid metal stud I'd expect the color to be the same.

So this is what it should look like without the pulley.

Reach out to Superchargers online. Great guys and can likely get it fixed for a lot cheaper or have the parts you need.

So in your picture, I have the grey portion but not the black. I as well would love to know why it broke. The only thing I can think of is that before I upgraded to the 10 rib the belt I was using was insanely tight and maybe it damaged it. Also I installed the blower at 30k miles the car now has 190k miles on the clock so the blower has 160k miles. Oil was changed at 80k on the blower and again about 10k miles ago when I changed the engine. The front bearing and the jackshaft spin freely and make no noise and never have made any noise. I wasn't playing around when this happened either, literally had my cruise set on the highway on my way to work. So the only thing I can possibly think of is the belts I ran being insanely tight from 50k-110k miles when I changed over to the 10 rib.

That's good news everything turns freely. It very easily could be fatigue from the prior belt creating too much side load. If you can get the bearings I'd definitely replace those.

I'm thinking it is a stud because if I look at the picture with the hub attached it looks like the jack shaft flares out at the ends. If it is truly a stud they use in the front of the jack shaft, then getting the broke off piece out may be a pain because they more than likely used thread locker on it. It'll take heat to weaken the thread locker to get it out so having it out of the bearing would be critical.

There definitely isn't any portion of the stud left in the shaft. It's a open hole broken off at the last thread

Can’t complain after 160K of trouble free use. Not bad . I’m curious to see what it will take to get it up and running. Makes me want to pull my stuff off and get it serviced though.

Is the part with the two notches in it in the original picture part of the jack shaft?

It may be worth talking to these guys as they seem to sell whipple parts.

I was thinking the drive hub looks something like this.

https://jonbondperformance.com/image...ub%20keyed.JPG

and these are holding it to the jack shaft

https://jonbondperformance.com/image...WP-12MMNUT.JPG

Which would make sense as to why the discoloration at the center of where it's broke since the stud is vented.
