Those are what I use as well. The Absorber is the most awesome 'towel' ever.

Don't knock it until you try it - I've used a blower before, like when it's freezing cold out and your hands are numb from washing the car - use the blower to get the majority of the water off then a microfiber to wipe the rest. Worked pretty well.

For waffle weave drying, the 24x36 waffle weave drying towel is one of the top selling products in our store.

You can also use a light mist of [URL="http://www.glimmerglassdetailing.com/spray--wipe--waterless-wash.html"]spray n wipe/URL] over the vehicle prior to drying. This will help prevent water spotting and also adds a bit of gloss to the finish

This may be a little old school, but the softest towels I've ever used are old cloth diapers. Note I did not say used cloth diapers. Cloth diapers can usually be aquired from local diaper services. In Austin where it's "green" not to use disposible diapers, there are even local baby stores that sell these diapers. Anyone else use these? My dad always used them to oil and polish his guns. They're very soft.

I'm using Sams Club mircofiber towels right now. The Costco towels are DEFINITELY not as soft and they lint like crazy.

I have confirmed that if you rub hard with a dry Sams Club towel you will make a micro scratch on my black paint. It can be taken off with SwirlX on my DA polisher, but I wish there were something better. Has anyone using the Meguiars Microfiber or the "blonde" towels TRIED to scratch and see what it does? I know if seems brutal, but better to be informed that burying your head in the sand and thinking you aren't scratching your paint.

I use the Mist and Shine from Wizards with their microfiber towel. Works awesome, absorbs much better and leaves no streaks compared to Sam's or other brand microfiber towels

Yes, used cloth diapers would be bad.

Brings a whole new meaning of skid marks.

As a detailer for over 35 years let me jump in here. Using a DI water filter or tanks as stated above is the best way to go, especially if you have black. Once washed and rinsed, use a blower to remove the bulk of the water and get all your jams, emblems, lights, grille, wheels, tires, INSIDE of the MIRRORS dry (This will take care of your frustration as you driving off and you get water still flinging out of unknow crevices). This will take some patience, if you have an air compressor, use this also in this process. Once the car is almost completely dry, I recomend the WATER SPRITE by SM Arnold to blot the rest. Then finish with a MEGUIARS WATER MAGNET sprayed lightly with an express detailer. Your finish will be spottless and your contact with the vehicle will me minable which is where the cobwebbing effect comes from.

I would recomend staying away from cotton diapers even though that is what our fathers used. Paints are different. You want thick and plush high quality microfiber towels when buffing or rubbing on your car. The nap of these towels will allow any particles you might pick up to be pulled into the inside the cloth and not where it can put a micro scratch into your finish.

One last note, if you take to a "brushless" car wash where they have a couple of guys soaping the car with wash mitts at the tunnel entrance, ask if they can change to clean mitts before they run your car though. Reason being, they just go from one car to the next, sometimes without even rinsing their mitts. No way of knowing what contamination (ie. rocks, dirt, etc.) is being transfered from the car or off road truck that was a vehicle or two in front of you to your beautiful Camaro. Just food for thought.
