Amen to that and thanks for all your information as well Dave. I will definitely be advising all I know that the Airaid system is worth the money !

This is a great thread.

What I find curious is the way these systems are designed to keep the top of the element "box" open, but then also seal them to the bottom of the hood.
I look at this and I cringe at the thought of the fabric hood liner sitting there shedding fibers and dirt into the filter element at all times.
What I wonder is; would be be better just to have a top on the box (like the stock box) to keep some of the junk away from the filter element, thereby allowing the manufacturers to forget about sealing the thing against the hood? Intuitively, it can't be more restrictive, and it would seem to also be drawing cleaner, colder air from below.
I don't know about these things, but am just thinking out loud.

Hello dagolfguy,

We design the system like that to allow us to put a larger filter in the box with more surface area, which will allow for more airflow.

The "Blade" Weather-strip does an excellent job of sealing against the hood and keeping out the hot engine heat. The Airaid system is a True Cold Air Intake System.

There is a ton of airflow we achieve with this design, and it does allow for much better performance and airflow than with a system with a "lid" on it.

The Airaid premium filter also offers excellent filtration, so I would not worry about the hood mat "Debris" getting through the filter.

Thanks,
David

I've been following closely myself and just ordered the airaid at a nice fair price. I'm on the Vararam pre order list but I fear the v-6 version may not be available until who know's when and I doubt the unproven gains will be worth the price or wait.

I like how David comes here and gives his knowledge on the subject and is willing to answer questions.

I'll give his product a try.

Ditto! Been following this since the beginning and I like how David responds to any/all questions thrown his way. I'm still waiting to see what others who are installing the AIRIAD have to say about it, but I'm leaning toward buying it.

I ordered mine a month orso and got it today. my brother and i installed the kit to day. very high qual no cheasy parts . even the hardware is high qual. very simple to read directions with pics. I still havent run the car yet and glad to have read about pulling #5 #20 fuse. was trying not to have to reset the car. I'm still not shore about the maf sensor thing. I have the jet sensor also instaled . Is this bad? should i put the factor maf back?

Chevy 3, don't forget, if after you replace the 5 and 20 fuses into the fuse box, you have a Check Engine Light, it may be the order in which you placed them in. Pull them and put them back again opposite order. If you don't remember the order, just try it twice if you have the light after the second time.

JewelZ, I'd say if you change your own oil, this is not a difficult task. Might take just a tad longer than most, but take your time and it's not tough.
