Your car originally came with the fix-a-flat bottle of goop attached to a compressor. So the guy you bought the car from is either uninformed or lying.
By the way, the battery tender is normally connected to the terminals in the engine compartment, not directly to the battery. The terminals are pictured in the owners manual. Don't have one? You can download it from the chest website. |

I don't have the styro foam piece, the well is filled with AMP's since the original owner upgraded the stereo system. I did find the air pump, though my self sealing fluid container has expired. I wonder if GM can still supply that styrofoam piece? I would have to trim it so I can yet retain stock appearance. |

These OEM Camaro jack and tool sets pop up on ebay all the time REAL CHEAP and look like they were never used.
Quick peek ... Right now there is perfect looking one on ebay that includes the Jack, Tools, and Styrofoam block that holds it for $64.99 free shipping to arrive on Valentines Day.

Electrically it makes no difference. I just find the engine compartment access to be more convenient. You can route the wire down to the ground and leave the hood closed, if you like.

I agree 110%.....it does NOT have to be a "Camaro" jack specific.....a std. scissors jack will do fine....plenty of sources for a LOT less than $65!

Isn’t the jack for the Camaro a specific type that fits over the pinch weld?

I've used a scissor jack that was from a 4cyl that twisted (unsafe) and raised it fine to remove the flat. Then try to put the aired up tire back on and it's about 1" too low. Start over and put a 2x4 under the jack. Not something you have in your pocket out on the road. I'm all for finding creative cheaper tools and fixes but if it doesn't work without extra tools back home, if it defeats the purpose. It's extra work but make sure the lug wrench and jack will work if you're bothering to drag non-OE kits and spares around with you. |

I paid $200 for the OEM Camaro Jack, Tools, Styrofoam block, spare wheel/tire option for the V6; with wheel adapter spacer it provides Brembo caliper clearance and use that on my SS. The jack, since it is OEM Camaro, is designed to carry the weight, no guessing and contour exactly fits the pinch weld without crushing the plastic rocker panels. No AAA needed and I can change a flat immediately. An added plus it all fits and stows away in the spare tire well as designed by Camaro engineers, out of sight. The various pieces of the whole kit fit like a jigsaw puzzle around the battery.
That price for all those components is probably one of the Camaro's best option bargains. Just the savings in AAA yearly fee alone so far has more than paid for that option. I also picked up a 2nd option: pristine OEM full-sized SS wheel/tire for $75 should i need a more semi-permanent solution after getting home after a flat (for those that are curious the full-sized wheel/tire will fit in the trunk but gobbles up a good chunk of space). Have needed it twice so far, luckily the tires were near shot in both cases anyway.

Thanks guys for all the help on this issue. I found the styrofoam piece on EBay and will trim it to keep the stock look. Get it all back together and the way I want it plus the knowledge of learning things about my car.

I'd be screwed because I have a Dusk Edition with 21" wheels. Lord knows how long it would take to order a tire.
