If any of you guys want to give it a shot, please do so! One dealer told me that they would charge $90 per hour and could take three hours to install

Keep in mind that they told me that they talked to GM about it and even GM couldn't figure out why it wasn't working.

First let me thank you for going thru this, as I will eventually be doing this to my ride I have been following this thread closely.

I think it's worth noting tho the amount of mis-information that is floating around dealers lots and service departments these days. Camaro Scotty even says in the thread the book for install of the part quotes $100 so you should not be being quoted higher than that.

Personally I am going to call all the dealers with 25 miles and see who will sell me the part with $100 installation and leave it up to them to figure out getting it turned on, if they can't do it, I won't be out anything.

The fact that it is an offical accessory that is also listed on the Camaro build page reassures me that it will indeed work when installed by a qualified mechanic.

Where do you see it on the build page? If by chance you're referring to "Audio System, with CD-ROM and MP3 Playback" I'm pretty sure the "MP3 Playback" they're referring to is MP3 CDs.

I go to Chevy, Choose build my Camaro - choose 2LT. On the bottom of the page it says 'dealer installed accessories' then there is a checkbox and next to it says 'Personal Device Interface Module (PDIM) $189'

Like i've said before, I'm glad it was me that went through this and not any of you guys.

It definately is worth wiener that the part doesn't work, but I think slick rick talked to the dealership to see what the next step is.

Oh, and I didn't pay $100, I paid for the part ($203) and $86 for installation. And yea, I'm not out anything either because I'm gonna get reimbursed and I got a free Camaro t-shirt

LOLOLOL. Too funny. I didn't see it because it's available on the 1SS and 1LT according to the site and is an added extra (even though it's included) in the 2LT and 2SS. Idiots.

I am trying to figure out what you just typed. The PDIM is NOT available on the 1LT and 1SS from the factory. So it's not an option on the website.

Two seperate things... reality and the website.

Website says that the PDIM is available as an DEALER INSTALLED OPTION on the 2LT and 2SS but not available on the 1LT and 1SS.

Reality... PDIM is INCLUDED from the factory on the 2LT and 2SS and can (or is supposed to be able to) be installed by the dealer in other models.

well Ill stick to my 10dollar MP3 player and audio jack until this get all figured out by GM. Seems like the whole thing is 90% complete. Seems the dealers need to learn how to upgrade things. No biggie.

Same here, I just don't like the idea of having to use both hands to change the song on the pod. I'll join the waiting group

Multiple people have. Look at the start of this thread (they just haven't gotten it working but that shouldn't be an issue for yous)

I ordered this part last week, called my dealership and they said it has arrived. I'm taking the car in tomorrow to have it installed so I'll post later with the outcome.
