During the install the temps were taken inside and outside the enclosure: they were getting 90 degrees Fahrenheit inside and 180 outside. That was WITH insulation.. no numbers w/o it. That was just at idle temps. The car was not moving. Obviously inside the enclosure should be lower when the car is driving down the road! |

yeah, for sure! i think that is the plan, that's why they were so desperate to get me in to the shop; they had to have the instruction manual completed for the testing. hope the results are as good as the looks!

Strange that they'd go to the effort (for performance sake) to insulate the box, then run a metal tube through the hot engine bay. Seems a conflict of interest between looks of metal and performance of plastic/insulation.
I am an engineer and generally thorough, but in this case I'm guilty of going straight for the pictures.

The CAI system goes above and beyond on the perfomance side of Intake systems - it builds its system around the coldest air possible going into your engine = creating more HP thus better performance! The custom air tight box keeps the hot air out allowing only the ambient air to flow into the system. The CAI intake tube is not the "normal" tube because they take the metal tube and ceramic coated to keep the air at ambient temperature. Thus this is why I found CAI to be the benchmark of intake systems vs everyone else. I love my system on my 08 Duramax and will get one when I order my camaro! Steve |

And yes it is designed to work with our cowl induction and L88 style hoods. The MPD version will be offered with the correct hood to airbox seal. |
