In my 2010 SS, I get asked if it is a V6 at stoplights because it is so quiet at idle. I usually just say yes and most people are cool but sometimes people in cars they think are fast smirk and giggle. Then I just smile and flip the cutout switch and blip the throttle and you can hear the open exhaust and the turbos whirring. That stops the laughing and giggling everytime. Then I flip the switch back, smile and drive away. Usually while they stare and look stunned. It's not quite the same satisfaction I had when gapping cars in my Omni GLH turbo I had in the 80's but it's close. Now that was fun when you got to the next stoplight after a quick blast. Those window down conversations were the best.

I have a 2013 2SS 6spd. Of course I like to accelerate as fast as possible. I do have borla attacks on it so she is aggressively loud. I took a right a got on it letting her scream through first and into 2nd. Of course I don't want to break any speeding laws so got off it. In my rear view came the blue lights. Cop said when I took the corner I "chirped" the tires and was told that's against the law. he gave me a warning, I thanked him, and he said "very nice sounding car"!

I got a nice compliment for both the sound and the show spinning the tires as I was passing through 200 mph in 4th gear..... It isn't often you hear an LS motor at 8500-9000 rpm....
On a side note.... Please stop the V-6 vs V-8 crap..... It gets old and we don't tolerate it.... I know where it originated in this thread and no further warnings will be given.... Thanks...

Too many experiences to tell, pretty much the same as everyone else. It is always a little weird when you catch people posing with your car and taking pictures.
Most enjoyment is when I first take people for a ride and take turns at speed and watch people get nervous, brace/push themselves into the seat grab the door handle and side console and then say holy crap, the car didn't even lean/move. Or when I get her up to about 60mph and slam the brakes on, it decelerates like the rides at Six Flags, they are in awe of the awesome braking capabilities of the Camaro which people rarely talk about. |

Came out of a sports store to a family of 4 taking pics of my car. I let the 7 year old son sit in the drivers seat for more pics. The parents thanked me...the kids were happy. That's happened at lest 5 time since I bought it.

That's a hell of a good question, one that I have no idea the answer to...

Have many good stories of people coming up and commenting on my car, stopping to look at it, giving me the ole' thumbs up while stopped at a light, etc. But I guess one of the best was the day I came out of a store and noticed a young woman standing next my car while her girl friend was taking pictures. As I got closer, I hit the remote start and startled them both. when I got up to the car, the one standing next to the car said, 'you have an awesome Camaro, not only does it look great, I love how it sounds, hope you don't mind me getting a picture'. Told her no, I take it as a complement. She went on to tell me about how she was into cars, especially Camaros, and was in the process of restoring a '67 that had been her dad's with her boy friend. Used her phone to snap a picture of her & her friend for them and went on my way

You know what...I never thought of that....I find hand prints on the drivers window all the time. I always thought it was me. Makes sense now.

My best story was from a couple of months ago. I was getting new tires put on the SS at a Discount Tire store. It was late in the day on a Saturday when they were finishing my car up. The parking lot was mostly empty and the tire installers were almost off for the day. The kid that came to get me from the waiting room when my car was done was asking me all kinds of questions about my mods, etc. He really seemed to like the car. I was talking to him for a few minutes and as we were chatting, most of the other kids in the shop had kinda gravitated to where we were standing next to my car in the bay.
I backed the car out and the kid that had been talking to me asked me if I could give the car a rev or two "for the guys in the shop". Sure man, no problem. Gave them a couple good revs and then lit the tires up for a few feet for them. Those kids were jumping up and down, pumping their fists and hollering in support!! It was awesome. It looked like I just handed each of them $100 bill. It was actually the best moment I've had in terms of appreciation for my car yet. Good times.
