From the Corvette Action Center... http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/.../2001over.html "models for 2001 get more horsepower from the standard LS1 V8 - 350hp (up from 345) - but the real story is a big boost in low-end torque" "300 lb-ft is delivered at 1,000rpm - 400 rpm earlier than before" "320 lb-ft is delivered at 1,400rpm - 800 rpm eariler than before" "340 lb-ft is delivered at 2,500rpm - an amazing 1,400rpm earlier than before"

yes because trap speed wins races
![]() i gotta start making a list here because ive been getting a few things wrong it seems. so... 1/4 mile winners are from trap speed handling = lateral g's only and superiority = house party comments ...am i correct so far?

trap speed is a better indicator of HP where as time is an indicator of the entire car working together as a whole

No, not exactly. Quarter mile is more from the skill of a driver, meaning a glory pass sure, the car is capable, but it takes the driver to do that. The trap speed, which is a biproduct of the quarter mile, tells more of the cars potential, because although it passes the quarter in the same time, the manual still has room to go where as the camaro does not (comparatively, obviously both camaros have great top end).

With the auto vs manual, the 6 sopeed auto is a really good transmission with really good ratios, it is going to be hard if not impossible to match shift speeds with a manual, this is why the auto is as quick with a lower trap IMHO. In any kind of roll race scenario though, the manual should have an advantage.

Trap speed is a true indicator of a car's performance, it shows the power of the car, what speed it can get to in this distance. Times are more of a meter of how well the driver is driving the car, and auto can shift faster than manuals in most cases, a roll race will usually go to the manual because of increased hp(in the case of the camaro) and gearing. And as for the handling thing: Yea, so by your Nurburgring theory, the GTR outhandles a 911 Gt2...Uh, no. |

. i would rather judge a car by what its accomplished, not by what it might do some day in a land far far away.![]() Quote:
