Reverse will make it laggy also, gotta watch out for that. lol
No I was worried about it being lazy until the higher boost pressure came in, but now that the car is tuned, I can clearly see that is not the case. CFM @ psi has changed, big time. Now I need a forged shortblock so I can turn it up! [looks over shoulder to make sure wife isnt around]

I did exactly what the OP is talking about I went straight for the f1a on my stock ls3 knowing I'd do motor work eventually. The f1a was running 9lbs (lowest it can possibly do) on the biggest pulley. Car made 620 on pump and 670 on e85. Definetly didnt feel like a slouch!

I am looking for 10ibs out of my YSI-B but I think that the cam spec will also help it out.... With the ported heads, cam and LT's the 3.6 pulley may not make 10lbs - we'll see.
I bought the YSi-B thinking I was going to go forged and aftermarket block. But now I think I will sell the Camaro. In my old age I have come to realize my true love is a Buick GN with a swapped LS 6.0 liter/TH400 and turbo. I have a spare Turbonetics Y2K 88mm turbo and an extra set of LS-3 heads to get me started.... Or maybe put the Y2K on my 5.0 Mustang and take the BW S500SX 88mm for the GN.

I am no expert, but my own supercharger started with a smaller pulley and the issue I had was in didnt make much boost until higher in the RPM range. So around 4500 before it started to make decent power. by putting a smaller pulley on I made more power and it moved the power down 750 RPMs. May be different with a huge blower like you are talking, just my .02

To answer my own question: It's all relative.
No, the big blower on low boost isn't lazy. The car felt fast. However once you drop a couple pulley sizes and get the blower into its efficiency range, you realize it was lazy, and now you think its fast. Then you get into a twin turbo 1200hp car, and realize your big blower car with its small pulley is actually lazy/slow. It's all relative, but you can definitely run a big blower on low boost until you get money to turn it up.

And the graph of torque etc proved it....even though you may not be seeing positive pressure on a boost gauge at lower rpms, or even very very low boost....dont for one second think it isnt moving lots of air and assisting power. Because they definitely are. The TT car, and presumably they were fairly small turbos as all graphs where around the 650-750 range, but the lower rpm torque from the turbo car was noticeably lower than the centri, which actually wasnt that far behind the Roots. And top end, of course both turbo and centri were the winners. Centri's really do offer good gains everywhere, as well as instant throttle response which can make the car feel far more exciting. Both are great though. |

The TT had babies 56/61mm turbos. Yes, centris are powerhounds when set up properly (as any other FI properly set up).
