Intake manifold torque question
Just installed a ported intake manifold and throttle body, did the work last night and used blue thread locker. I torqued the manifold in sequence and in stages with the motor cold and then took it for a spin. I came back and let it sit for 30 minutes and rechecked torque, I got a few turns out of each bolt to reach 89 inch pounds again. Is it bad to torque the manifold with a hot motor or could they really back out in a couple miles?
Thanks for the help! |

Here's my best guess: the thread locker had not hardened before your drive and the heat reduced its viscosity even more- to the point it acted a bit like a lubricant, decreasing the resistance/friction on the threads. This allowed you a few more turns while still staying in "spec".
If you don't get a CEL next start up, you're probably a bit tight but O.K. |
