I would always use Waze plus a radar detector; neither by itself is enough.

I ran a Beltronics, not Escort I believe, 360 Max! It is a great radar detector and also has a Laser alert. However, laser only works if they shoot high vs license plate. the hardwire is the only way to go. The best laser detector, check for yourself, is Alp 1. there is another but it costs 5k!! The Escort 360 and the Alp is the best set up for the money. I had it on my 2016 Porsche and it worked great. Actually it is a laser jammer.......but it sets up in car and if pulled over it substitutes as a parking sensor.
It can be adjusted to jam for whatever you like, but the 3 seconds stops the laser from appearing jammed vs just a late show.

Escort 360 max! $600 or so but i live it! Hasn't let me down yet and has a memory where you can block out unwanted signals. Loads of features!

FYI every test I've seen so far the 360max is smoked by the R7 in detection range. I know the 360 came out a lot before it, but I cross shopped these and the R7 is a no brainer over the 360 for the same price at this point in the game.

I run an Escort 360 Max in my daily driver. In traffic there are a decent amount of false alerts from BSM (blind spot monitor) vehicles (this is with TSR on, POP off and no X-band). I also wish it had a little more range than what it does.
I have a Escort Max 360 on my DD and I don't get any BSM falses...I get zero falses. Not sure what the difference is.

laser detection is more of an indicator that you just got a ticket imo. focus on radar and where you plan on driving. here it’s Ka band for 99% of the city cops, an occasional K, and if I’m out in the country roads I’ll put X band on as the smaller town cops still run it.

i have been running a redline and I have no tickets. the redline is an old model, doesn’t have any updates for software/firmware and is pretty useless with K band as it picks up the world. But it has very good range. R7 would be what I would buy right now if I was shopping for a new one.

even with the best radar detection, the well trained highway patrol will get you still. they won’t hit you with radar until you are in visual range or you pass them when they are behind something to hide behind.

I have Valentine 1 for several cars and K-40 in my DD. K-40 is much more expensive, but works super well and has laser blocker (and it works). K-40 pays ticket if you get one. But it cost $2k +/- installed.

V1 - works super well, can be hardwired very easy and be left in one car or go car to car as you move. Very flexible, limited false alarms and reliable systems.

Anyone is better than not having one!

I've never ran a detector and also haven't gotten any tickets but have gotten a warning for 9 over in my previous ZL1 and a warning for excessive acceleration (not speeding) in my current ZL1. I do sometimes worry about getting popped from somewhere I can't see when cruising or driving spiritedly in Mexico. I try to stay under the radar when driving especially because my cars are all kinda loud () but sometimes you have to let the bald eagles rip. I always thought that by the time you get alerted, it's probably too late, and you're just protecting against that 2% of the time where the beam hit you instead of the guy next to you and you get an extra second to hit the brakes...How well do these really work for chronic speeders to prevent tickets?

Yes i read the same but let me put it this way....when you are driving down the highway and you get a laser detection that points ahead (it has arrows and color coded for k band /laser) are you than anticipating a Statey 8 miles down the road? Or would you rather be 2 miles? My point being if you have some crazy far range you will pick up signals that may not even pertain to you...on a cross road miles away...im telling you from experience my 360 is fn awrsome! I get a laser hit and i know i will run into him in a min or so....just because you have some crazy long range doesnt mean its useful! It just might drive you nuts
