2014 Camaro 2SS Squealing brakes

Hello all!

I've been on the forums as anon for a few years, but I recently upgraded from a 2012 1LT to a 2014 2SS. I've had it for about a month now and so far the biggest concern/annoyance are the dang brakes. I can be slow rolling and if I lightly touch the brakes they scream like a bat out of hell and it's frustrating AND embarrassing. The car just rolled over 50k miles and as far as I know, they're the original brakes. The dealership was useless with the info on this, I pretty much did everything on my own. I've looked through some other threads and saw recommendations on what to do and what brake pads I should go with, but here's my confusion. I'm very uneducated when it comes to brakes. I see recommendations for HAWK Performance and EBC Red, but what do you guys like? Will I need to replace everything to stop the squeal or just the pads? Will i have to get rid of my calipers? Sorry in advance for my ignorance, but thanks for your help!

Just the pads, the brembos are known for this. I used to just hit the brakes hard a couple times then wouldn't have the issue for a while.

That's what I was thinking. Any recommendations for Pads? I just want something quiet and minimal dust. I went on a 240 mile (total) trip this weekend and my front wheels were just filthy. Thanks again!

The stock pads/rotors are great pieces. Sometimes you have to take the good with the bad. A lot of aftermarket have less dust, but you give up some bite and vice versa.
My car is a garage queen and only sees summer use. Plus I'm retired....so I just wipe the wheels down every now and then. It's become a habit.
The squeal, I have learned to just accept.
Good luck.

If the squealing is really bad get up to 50MPH and stomp 'em down to ~10. Allow them a bit to cool and repeat. Do this 3 times.
If they still squeal wait longer and do it again.

And don't ***** foot the middle pedal. Use the brakes or don't.

For the dust, get some Poor Boy's Wheel Sealant. 2-3 coats inside and out.

I get dust on the wheels and on the fenders and quarter panels, finally ordered some powerstop z26 pads for near dust free stopping power, most people say they stop just as good or very close.

What brake pads to get really depends on how you intend to use the car. If it strictly a street car then the stock pads should be fine. If you plan to track the car, road race, auto cross, drag race then you might want to look at pads designed for that type of use.

Different people like different pads for different reasons, their reasons might not apply to you. So do a little research, narrow it down to a couple of options, then contact the manufacturers for their input.

Good luck, enjoy your car.
