How much smoke on drag radials
How much smoke do you guys want to see on "Nitto" drag radials when you do a burnout? Little/moderate/lot? I understand a narrower 275 tire will put out a little less smoke with same burnout time roughly compared to a 315 tire.
Thanks!!! |

Those were NTO5Rs, and they liked a lot of heatNo but really, its not important, man. Do your burnout, then make your pass. The weather and track prep are going to be big factors. Theres no one size fits all answer. Get some seat time and figure out what your car needs. Smoke isn't a gold standard of any kind for measuring traction/effective launches. My Mickey Thompsons hook way better than my Nittos did, and theres far less smoke. For yours, start with a 3-5 second burnout (5k rpm in 2nd gear) and go from there.

I give my NT05Rs about 2-4 seconds in 2nd gear around 4000 rpm. I get a light haze usually, no big clouds. They hook very well, but we do have good prep where I run.
