My searching sucks...so what is this vac gate in my mufflers?

I have a 2014 i picked up on 420.lol. 6spd 2ss and has dual outlet mufflers. Mufflers have vaccum activated cutoffs on the actual mufflers.
Is this some factory stuff or wth is it? Mufflers dont have a name to them either.

Those are OEM NPP dual mode mufflers. They’re vacuum actuated like you said. If you want them to be loud all the time and never close you can pull fuse f8 in the trunk fuse box. DIY on that is here
https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=268970

If you want to be able to manually control them, you have a few options. There is the mild to wild which allows them to be either open or factory operation, or you can get the forza three way exhaust controller which allows them to be open, closed, or operate normally.

Mild to wild: https://www.phastekperformance.com/2...er-mtw-zl1.htm

Forza controller: http://forzacomponenti.com/controller_e2.html

Hope this helps

Thanks man. I figured it was some stock bs. As nobody would want to add that goofy vac stuff along the car. That is crazy.
I just wanna pull the mufflers and put some magnaflo or dynomax in their place and keep the similar twin tip look to it. This is just a cruiser toy anyways. But its still needing to sound amazing for sure.

Throw some long tubes on there, that’ll change your mind about swapping mufflers. The npp’s sound awesome with long tunes. I had flownaster outlaws on and when I did the headers it was too loud so I put the npp mufflers on and it sounds amazing.

I added that goofy vac stuff along my car and programmed the remote control to my Homelink buttons. I can open and close at will.

Haha I did something similar. I put a vacuum pump in my trunk so I could open and close the mufflers

GO ahead turbo pull it and sell it its only a $900 option a moron would hate on since it comes from a corvette..... oh yes and the new model of Camaro has the same function but with electrical controller as like the corvette; its called dual mode performance exhaust if your not built though you most likely don't appreciate what some of us paid good money for as a option. I guarantee you the aftermarket muffler guys wish theirs sounded like mine, and they make excellent decel popping and burble with a built tuned car...…

And many people over time have added and even designed the "goofy vacuum stuff" to work since it does work apparently much better for some of us than you and your opinion, of course some of us did not just buy our car, and some of us may be on not even our first gen 5 SS. And my first a triple black vert l99 sure could have used a better exhaust like the dual mode...… But still would have needed to be built.

I wasnt intent to offend anyone with my "opinion" of the setup. It sounds ok but i actually dont care for the cherry bomb muffler decel sound. I am much more of a turbo whistle kinda sound guy.
I got this camaro to drive when i want to pull gears. It has been fun so far and it has gotten a few compliments on the exhaust note even. Im just not a fan of that burgling but the rest is fine. Maybe ill get used to it. After i dont intend to mod it much. Maybe some better control arms in the back, better shifter and throwout bearing over winter. Kinda wanna do some road course stuff to pass time on an off weekend im not drag racing.
Sure do wanna add a cowl hood to remove that center vent and add white stripes on the hood.

Trolling much? Cant be serious. Talking about turbo whistle and cherry bomb and talking shit about NPP, which is the pretty much the best.

You have much to learn/read.

NPP flow is better than most if not all replacement mufflers. A lot of Camaro owners that dont have it wish they did. I like being able to shut mine down or open it up with the flip of a switch. Do some more research before you dismiss it as some BS

That burble you dislike will be even more prevalent on other mufflers like the ones you listed. The NPP (wish I had it....) is basically the best of both worlds. Loud when wanted, stealthy when not. If you're set against it, then sell the whole system and replace it with a c/b system. Don't be ghetto and just chop it up. There's tons of people who'd buy the system for a very fair price indeed.

Thank you for that reddevil and you other 2 above him. I literally know nothing about these cars. I also dont wanna be ghetto either.lol. good response made me chuckle. Ive been building a 2khp g3 hemi and just never gave a thought to anything else.
I am honestly not trying to troll if it seems that way. I have a different car and brand im wrapping its build up on this month. Ive always had turbo cars with magnaflo mufflers. So that burble wasnt there.
Im glad i dont have to change the exhaust out if they flow that well. Ill just leave it as is. Maybe just work on the suspension for handling and do some road course trips 1ce or twice a year.

before you decide to sell this exhaust, look up "NPP fuse pull" which will bypass the valves and make your exhaust "loud" all the time. you won't be disappointed.

Thanks man. I dont wanna do that. Im to old for loud at all times. Boy did i really just say that? Lol. Maybe ill do it if i ever put a rowdy cam in or if my boys want it loud all the time. Ill have to ask them. Looks simple enough for sure.
