2015 Z/28
Ok Z/28 experts...I am thinking of getting into one of these for the ole lady. Now I know the LS7's on the Vettes are known for dropping valves. My question is what do I need to know about these LS7's? I'm getting conflicting stories on the valve issue. Ive also heard oil pumps. This car will most likely stay stock with nothing more than exhaust work done. It will just be a sunny day car.
We are looking at a Summit White (to match our 18 ZLE) out of Maryland. While I know all cars have their bugs...I don't want to be buying a problem child. |

There has been no hard evidence the z/28 ls7’s are any less prone to the valve issue then the zo6’s. Budget having the heads fixed if you want a z/28 IMO. Other members will chime in saying gm fixed the issue with the heads, but with NO supporting evidence. I’ve read everything there is to read about the issue and nothing has convinced me it’s fixed. My car is out of warranty in jan 2020, I will be pulling heads for inspection and most likely off to be fixed at that time.

Not one member has reported an oil pump issue here. Plenty of threads discussing the heads, choose for yourself if it's an issue or not.
Z/28s have had issues with seat belt strap coming unstitched and chafed. Because the front wheels are so large, the rear quarter panels get beat from debris. Front splitters are susceptible to damage. The wheel arches have been known to seperate from the fenders. The brakes squeal, and its annoying. If you do choose to get one, welcome to the family.
