Just punch out the cat, or buy a test pipe (essentially a gutted cat with a straight pipe through it, instead of being a big hollow chamber). I did that for years without issue during inspections. The related codes should be turned off in the tune by the tuner, if he knows what he/she is doing.

How do they do emissions testing in NJ? In kent county delaware for odb2 vehicles all they do is plug it in. No codes you pass. Like said above the rear O2’s can be set to not throw a code in tune. They have looked under my car with a mirror for cats but my texas speed headers have a catless mid pipe that resembles a cat.

I’d have gpi spec out a vvt cam and have Chris at circle d spec you out a converter. I’ve had multiple cams and converters and hose are the two Im Running and sticking with from here on out. Chris took care of me when I changed my stall speed and customer service was second to none for any part vendor, not just converters

It's not that bad at idle or just cruising around. Stick your foot in it though, all bets are off!!

"Supercharged with a stage 3 cam and Borla Catback with no cats? Man that may be overly loud lol"
It's exactly what I have (the ATAK version), and went with no cats due to the plugging up issue. The addition of the Whipple and cam took the ATAK to a whole 'nother level. Idle is a sweet mean rumble, but it is really loud under throttle. I mean REALLY loud, and can be heard a mile away. NOT daily driver material, lots of back-rap and popping coming off of the throttle, but surprisingly no drone and relatively quiet at steady cruising speeds. Definitely more raw exhaust smell w/o the Cats. As I said in another post, adding a resonator like a Magnuson greatly reduces the WOT noise level and curbs much of the back-rap, but then makes it rather docile again, so I took off the Magnuson Resonator and put the Borla straight X-Pipe section back in. My solution was to learn to work the throttle to reduce the back-rap noise, and not be stupid in the neighborhood or in traffic. |
