Considering your car will get up to 155 before the governor kicks in, 115 isn't sooo bad. I doubt you drove it at that speed for long as well. It's a muscle car; it was made for this!

Look at it this way - the more miles you put on it, the better it will run, along with increased performance. I now have 8000 on my RT (since April) and it keeps getting faster and pulling harder.

Mine just passed the 1500 mile mark today. I was justifying driving it so much because I had to break it in - the manual says that is now past, but posts like yours make me reconsider...

Are you seriously still feeling improvement even now at 8000?

Look at the other side and consider yourself lucky that you can.

I have a 99 Grand Prix and need a new car, the only production model I like and can see myself in is the Camaro.
I go to the Chevy site and build a car daily, sometimes IBM or RJT with beige interior , but mostly black on black. V6 for gas mileage, and the 7K difference in getting a V8 + I consider the price of gas and the amount I would spend in 6 years until I get the thing paid off.
I could have one now, if the economy had not tanked and my older sister and brother were doing ok financially. They went to college, but I didn't because I knew my parents didn't have the money decades ago.
Long story short, if I had not given them 8K+ in the last year and wasn't currently donating money to them, I could have what I want.
Black V6 (I'm not buying something to race and I don't have the money to pimp it out) sunroof, LT2, RS package, spare tire, 20" polished wheels. I could handle the 6 year payments,
I come here daily, because I love the car and like reading about the experiences that owners have. I want to be one soon. I'm afraid if I don't get this car now, it will not be available in the future, and you only live once.
There are people who post here that have more money than common sense, and kids who whine because mommy and daddy won't buy them one. It makes me sick to read.
I'm a hard working, honest guy but I put my family before myself and it's delaying me getting this beauty. It won't last forever and I will find a way to get one. Just be happy that you have that beautiful car to put a smile on your face. I've seen ONE up close and sat in it at a dealership 2 miles away while the guy was telling me about an 18 year old kid who's grandmother bought a 2SS for him. He got in a fender bender and they had to fix it a week later, they gave the car back to him and 2 days later he wrapped it around a tree.
Drive your car, to hell with the odometer and ENJOY IT!

You should move!!!!! j/k

I lived in Ames while going to ISU. I can only imagine that you must drive at least 20miles everytime you get in your car to go anywhere!

BTW, I would rather live in Ankeny than in Des Moines; less traffic. Wow, I could be wrong; I just googled (satellite map) and Ankeny is growing fast. Your almost sucked in by Des Moines already!

Good for you, what a great guy...your day will come...you are doing the right thing now by trying to help out your family...
I believe in kharma, and your good deed will someday be returned to you, hopefully in the form of a new Camaro...........
p.s. you are very welcome on this forum to read about all the excitement this car generates and you will also learn a lot while you are waiting for your chance to someday buy your own......

I dont know... I loved watching the odo go up in my IROC. Every milestone just proved how much I loved driving the car. I'm not one to have the trailer queen.

Yes

Absolutely! I don't know if it is the design of the hemi engine or if all modern high performance engines are like this (hopefully, the second) but yes, my RT just gets badder and meaner with time (I haven't had a muscle car since 78, a 1974 Camaro). Please folks, I'm not trying to start another pissing contest between Challengers and Camaro's, just (hopefully) passing on words of encouragement. I too was initially dismayed by watching the odometer go up, but when I felt the performance noticeably increasing as well, I am now just fine with the odometer going up and up.

Think of it this way... once you get past 35K miles, you can put a magnacharger on it and have a whole new experience!

You're tellin' me. When I had my 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix (previous piece of crap) I didn't mind putting the miles on because I knew I would be getting my new baby soon. I got that thing over 185,000 miles on it..........however, the worst part EVER was that it took exactly a week for me to put my first thousand miles on my new baby....sucked.
