To trade or not to trade? That is the question
Alright guys,
Try not to stone me. I have a 2010 Camaro 2SS/RS that I have long tubes and hi flo cats on, Cold air inductions intake and a 93 octane tune on it. My car has 24k miles on it. I have recently gotten a wild hair and am considering trading her in for a new scatpack challenger. Instead of having to put a cam in my camaro I could buy the scat pack which is faster than my car in it's current state. If the challenger gets good traction with it's new 275s on the rear it beats the 6th gen stock ss and the mustang. The 392 has so much more low end torque to get it out of the hole compared to my car especially. Should I keep my Camaro and cam it or get the scatpack? The A8 in the scat pack seems to shift alot quicker than my A6 as well. Or Should i trade for a 5th gen ZL1 or 6th gen SS? Any mod suggestions are also welcomed.

you should be able to find a nice 5th gen ZL-1 for a lot less than the cost of the challenger and not take a huge depreciation hit the minute you drive it off the lot.if you cant whip up on the challenger with the ZL-1 its time for the driver mod...

I vote for trade for a 5th ZL1, if that doesn’t work, keep the current SS and If possible save some money up and cam and FI it. Then you’ll have no problem destroying a scat pack, and you get to keep the amazing 5th gen styling.

I'm in the Nashville TN area and there is only one ZL1 for sale in a 150 mile radius. It's black 2013 with 24k miles, it's a stick and they are asking 36k. I do have an entire Texas speed 1.2 vvt cam kit for my SS that I haven't put in yet tho.

I haven’t seen a nice ZL1 for less than $40,000. You should probably test drive all 3, compare and then decide.

For that price I’d just wait a little longer for z28 to keep coming down in price

I vote keep your current car and install the cam, possibly supercharge if you want to spend the money. It will most likely be cheaper than buying the scatpack and it would be different.

-------------------------------------------------------- As for the TC's question, it really all has to do with your preference. Me personally, I would love a new Mustang or Challenger, as they are great cars. But my love for the Camaro is too great to ever get rid of it for one. My ultimate goal is to pay mine off and then make a purchase on another car. But chances are it will be another Camaro, a 6th gen 1LE or ZL1. My suggestion would be to keep your car until you are at least not upside down on it. If you trade it in now, even with the low miles, you are going to get hammered on your next loan.

Challenger is a cool car and I hate to say it probably less trouble in the long haul overall BUT the Camaro is much sportier in ever aspect. I thought about buying a Challenger many times but when I actually looked at them and drove them I couldn't do it. I'd go find a nice ZL1 1LE then enjoy every minute you have it. I think the Challenger thing will cool off quickly.

Dodge quality is not anything I’d bet the farm on.
