You have a low miles 2010 at 24k.
Logically it seems very simple.
Do some outside mods to stifle the inner and emotional five year old but you did mention a Dodge so we're probably on shaky ground anyhow.

Since you've only had it a year your going to get killed on your trade in. So you'll be financing a lot more than 34000.

IMO keep what you have, you are too upside down on your payments.

you come across as "chasing speed" and would never truly be happy with any new car. Modify the one you have and make it as fast are your wallet will allow.

How often are you actually racing the car on the track? 2-4 times a year, or weekly?

I usually hate giving advice to these types of questions, because it is a personal issue only one can make. I'd ask yourself a couple of questions, however.
1. Are you happy with your current car?
2. How does your current car look? Is it mint with great paint or does it suffer with appearance issues such as dents, scratches or poor paint?
3. Do you own it outright?
4. Which is stronger at this moment: The passion for your current car or the passion for a Challenger or a ZL1?

If after analyzing these questions and anything else, and you still want to get another car, then get the car of your choosing. It goes without saying that the ZL1 or Z28 will be a step up in authority, but make sure that they are the cars that you want. Cars of this day and age are very expensive, and it is almost too much money to spend to make compromises or mistakes in a chosen model. Do your research, decide what you want and shop wisely. Good luck.

He still owes $20k on a 2010, that's more than the car is worth...

I'd do what ever floats your boat if you can afford it. You only live once and time passes much too quickly. Be careful what you wish for, you might get it...........

I'd love a ZL1, will I ever get one? Who knows what life's dice may toss my way. I've bought and owned quite a few gnarly high performance cars that I wasn't looking for when I bought them. They just kinda found me if that makes any sense. I find if the deal just doesn't feel right NO DEAL.

you're stuck man. You owe $20k on a 10 that won't get 10 on a trade in. You're looking at a minimum of 10k in the hole. Just keep the camaro, that's the only real choice you have.

Okay...not the best position to be in. If it were me, I would work on un-capsizing your loan position and get that balance down to a manageable size. Once you are in a position to finish paying off the loan, then you can make good plans for another car.

Edit: Also with point 2; The reason I brought up the car's appearance is that its easy to get distracted with a good looking new car. If your car is in mint condition with the paint, then all you will need to do to break the new car fever is to get an outstanding detail on your current car. Once you've seen your car totally clean and shiny, I'd wager that you would forget about the other cars that grabbed your attention away from your own car.

Thanks for the responses guys!

I bought the car last year for 23k and it had only 13k miles on it. My payments aren't too big is why I still owe 20k I got appraised with a 17k trade in offer. I love this car alot honestly. It's just not fast enough right now.

I have a 79 Camaro that I'm finishing up and have been bouncing back and forth between the 79 and my 2010. I have a tsp 1.2vvtcam kit for the 2010 and I'm hoping it would put me where I'd like to be. The strip is every now and then for fun. Mainly a street car to cruise and have a little fun.

I am worried with my car approaching 10 years old even with having low miles. Also, I got taken to GAPplebees by a 392 challenger today. They have so much freaking Low end and mid range torque.
I'm hoping this cam kit will put me ahead of the 392 cars.
I've been reading that ported heads don't do alot for the L99 cammed because they already flow very well? Would it be worth the extra 800$ to have my head's ported by Texas speed or even buy the 1500$ pair from them? I've read it's only worth like 15 hp

Financially speaking it would be dumb of me to go 15-20k more in debt versus what I am now so I agree with you guys. I think I'm going to stick with the SS. Im 24 and I'm an automotive engineer that is young and stupid at times and I'm having my first taste of freedom and decent money lol when compared to my college athlete budget.

Thanks for the input I value everyones feedback and experience to help me learn.

Recognizing that is a great step in the right direction. When I was 24, you couldn't convince me of anything, as I always knew best. Sounds like you have your head bolted on straight. Keep living right and goals like this will get much easier to achieve as time goes by.
