Anyone that has ordered custom wheels...

I have quite a while until I get my car, but has anyone ever gotten custom made wheels from Lexani or any other site that lets you customize the wheels? I was wondering how much more it costs to do that

here is there site: lexani.com and there is a link called custom wheel builder

this is what I wanna do - LSS 10 22", and they can match the paint to the cars exact color

bring a BIG wad of $$$$$$.......if they are a quality wheel, and truely costom made for you, you are probably starting out at about $5000-$6000 and they go UP from there.

ditto Sir Nuke. Range is $5K - $10K for quality.

lexani is a pretty decent company. not too pricey but they are quite heavy. nice looking wheels though. for a set of 22's probably around 4grand.

You can add $200-500 per wheel for paint depending on what you want and what process is required to achieve it. Powder-coating is common for paints but if you want to match a factory paint then they use the actual factory paint which looks good but is vulnerable to chipping especially if it's on the outer rim.

Those big rims are heavier as you know from the info given to you in other threads, so in addition to the cost of the rim you have the cost of the bigger tires which are not cheap. You can easily wind up spending $2,000-$2,500 PER WHEEL by the time you get the rim and tire combo you want. If this is a show car and you have the budget, go for it. If it's a street car and you have the cash go for it but be advised those big heavy rims are vulnerable to damage because you have to run very low profile tires for them to fit on the car. You hit a pothole or eat a curb and that's a very expensive oops.

If it's a street car and you don't really have the budget, honestly re-evaluate what you really want out of the car. Maybe go with a smaller rim or something cheaper. Smaller rims have many advantages in performance of course, but they're also cheaper and the tires are cheaper. I just got custom 3-piece forged for mine and went with 19 x 9.5 for rim size. The tires are 275/40-19 and cost $175 each for terrific ultra high performance summer tires; Hankook Ventus V12 Evos. I'm literally going to save thousands on tires over the life of my car compared to the cost of the stock Pirelli's. This helps to offset the cost of the rims.

Keep in mind also that with those huge rims in addition to slowing down the car and increased the distance it takes to stop, you're also going to wear out the shocks sooner and most likely wear out ball joints, steering linkage joints and suspension bushings faster because of the beating they take due to trying to handle the extra weight of those bigger rims and tires. That's also an extra cost over the life of the car.

So it all depends on what exactly you really want to do with the car and your budget. As long as you go into the project with realistic expectations knowing what the pluses and minuses are, then you should be able to enjoy the experience.

Here's the rims I got; they are the 505 model by Nutek:
and you thought my wheels looked bad? those look terrable on that car. yellow? really?

These are not 3 piece wheels and are not very expensive... they are around 3k with tires so wheels only are probably a little over 2k. I just wanted to know how much it costs on top of the standard wheel price to have them paint it how you want. And I am not going to be racing the car, 22s look perfect on the camaro.

Love our 22s.

Custom 3 piece wheels take about 4-8 weeks (depending on vendor and demand)

Cost like some have stated you will pay for quality.

HRE, Iforged, 360, Vossen, MC, COR, D2, Axiom and just a few companies that can make whatever you want in a wheel.

Tires run around 1200 depending on where you go
Sensors run around 90 dollars a piece (x4)
Mounting and lug nuts runs around 300 dollars
Paint will cost around 150-200 per wheel.

You can sell your stock to offset some of the cost.

Yeah I will be selling the stock ones for at least 1k

I know that it cost more for a quality job... but Lexani does all the customizing so its not like I am having them custom painted by someone, I am sure it is cheaper to have them do it since they offer it on the site so they probably do it all the time
