why would they invest on a low volume option in a platform thats dying in 2 years, remember these are the same people that squirted glue into 3rd gens to make then stay together.I agree it would be a GT500 and Hellcat killer, but it would also be a CAFE killer and I believe GMs finances are such that they are doubling down on the C8 and new stuff like the Blackwing or whatever its called motor for the performance models

Moderators, I am almost willing to post something overtly offensive , risk getting banned for a month or so, just to get this thread closed and we not have to rehash another 17 pages of this conversation

And if that does happen along with the trend staying where the ZL1 gets the Z06 output, then we should see a 725-775 HP 7th Gen ZL1. Those are a lot of "ifs" but I do think it will happen.

Of note should be that the C8 Vettes do not need overwhelming HP now that they have a superior design. If rumors of an AWD Z06 or ZR1 do come to fruition, then it could very well be around 550 or 600 HP and still straight up destroy cars with much more HP. So this entire design we see in the C8 just might be GM's ticket to reduce HP while making the car much faster in every way imaginable. If so then I can see the Camaros going off on a different road where they will no longer get trickle down engines from the Vettes since they will need the extra HP while the Vettes won't. So there is a lot in store and a lot of changes to expect in the future.
That IMO is very interesting. That to me is what could ultimately be the demise of the camaro. Without Corvette engines to pull from, Camaro doesn't have any engines to choose from. Will GM produce two different lines of performance engines?

To me from a business standpoint it makes perfect sense to phase out the Camaro and leave it as it is. All the focus is on the C8 which in the 50K (yes, I know high 50's or 59,995) realm kind of eliminates the need for another sports car in that space.

Stingray takes over falling Camaro sales, the latest Gen is a huge miss (which they know)
Z51 takes over ZL1 needs - More HP will come
Z06 and above to be released - will fill the remaining void.

C8 is the talk of the town and for good reason, be happy to be alive for these incredible automotive times and have the means to purchase.

Just two opinions.

Not everyone wants a vette.

By this logic, Mustang, Challenger, and Charger are toast.

Yes I agree, Corvette's aren't for everyone.

Mustang and Challenger don't have the C8 sitting in the same showroom though.

While everyone was focused on HP numbers and forgetting that people want to actually drive these and have fun, not only on the strip and at the track. Its about having everything you want and being fast (for racers) not holding a number that means sh** if you're getting bus lengths put on you.

GM went left and completely changed the game in the Pony wars.

I've been a long time Ford guy but the Dealership markups are OUT OF CONTROL, and I am going to love watching them get smacked due to the terrible dealership policies they allow.

I was fully ready to purchase a GT500 (been waiting 6 years) and eat the dealership fee, now over 30K at my dealership. Then 7-18 happened.

Wow, so a true hypercar for under $150k?

What strikes me about the C8 is that it's like the original NSX when it launched--$60k in 1990. It was designed to provide Ferrari features, performance and styling with true reliability for 1/2 the price, and it succeeded.

The new NSX failed in this goal.

On paper the C8 has Ferrari/McLaren/Lambo mid-engine features, styling and performance for 1/4 the price.

The NSX is a big "fatty" at 3878 lbs and a V6. No V8, then no purchase for me. But it is still 0-60 in 2.7 seconds. That is fast but waaaay overpriced.
