305s and 285s vs 285s all around?
I've got 20x11 rear wheels and 20x10 front wheels. I'm debating on whether to go with 285/35R20s in the front and 305/35R20s in the rear, or just go with 285s all around like the 1LE was equipped with.
Has anyone tried both setups? I'm looking for opinions. The car is not a drag race car, nor is it a daily driver. It is a spirited driving weekend car and may occasionally see a track day or two per year. It never gets driven during the rain or inclement weather. Also worth nothing is that it is a 2013 SS (LS3) with soon to be around 520rwhp, and an end goal of about 600rwhp (naturally aspirated). |

A quality, appropriate tire will get you there with either, but you're more likely to hook up that power regardless of the tire with a 305 than a 285.

That was part of my concern as well, is the 285s in the rear being able to put as much power down.
The only reason the 285s all around appealed to me was because I heard that on the 1LE it helps to dial out a lot of the understeer. However (and correct me if I'm wrong), with that much power and coilovers / sway bars coming soon, I should be able to dial out a lot of the understeer just with the suspension setup alone. |

With that kind of power I'd opt for the wider rears. As mentioned, if you feel there is too much understeer or oversteer you can choose your sway bars and spring rates accordingly (stiffen the rear for less understeer/more oversteer, or vice versa).

I have 285's on all four corners and am at approx 520 HP.
While the car handles really well it doesn't hook worth a damn FWIW |

GY Eagle Supercar G2's. The same tire that came on the 5th Gen 1LE and ZL1.

Next I am going to do a built 427 block. That should get me to around 600rwhp give or take. |

The general consensus from people I have talked to is the advantage of running a square setup is in the track cornering. It will handle better on curves. If you have a goal of 500-600 hp you should be fitting as much rubber as you can under there

I went with 285s in the front, 305 or 315 in the back. Then adjusted my alignment to have neutral toe in the front, with 1.7 degrees camber, and a tiny bit of toe in in the rear with only half a degree of camber.
Basically, the wider tire will allow you to use less camber to get the same amount of grip. ....And 13" of tire in the back just looks badass.

Nah. 1LE's come with 285/35's in the rear on the 11" rims from the factory.
