The PDIM just got locked up and needs to be restarted. If the dealers were able to get the PDIMs updated, you could take it in, but it seems like they're having problems with the latest update. I'm really sorry that you're having problems!!! Hopefully we can get it resolved soon!
Hi codeman,

so the trouble is with the update itself and not the radio? Some of us have been trying like crazy to install a PDIM module in a 1SS but have had no success. Should the next update take care of our issues?

I'm sure he'll respond but he didn't say that at all. He was referring specifically to the PDIM locking up if an iPod is removed while the car is on.

If the radio isn't recognizing the existence of the PDIM at all, I don't see that changing without an update to the radio (which is what they tried and failed to do in your car). If they can't get your radio to update, no matter many how many updates they release it won't help until they can figure out how to actually get the radio to update. And keep in mind that he's referring to PDIM updates. What you need is a radio head unit update.

Mine did the same thing as yours the other night going to dinner. Once we got done (I left everything plugged in) and my I-Pod worked. Got in the SS twice today and I-Pod still works. Seems like if I hook it up before I start the car and leave it hooked up the radio will find it. If I hook it up after I start the car ....no luck.

My iphone 3gs is working great, but one annoyance. It comes up with the message "this accessory is not compatible with the iPhone", same message that come up on old ipod charning radios, etc. Evertying it working, but I have to click the message. Does the pdim update clear this message for my $40K Iphone accessory

I just checked over the weekend and my dealer was able to update to CE. To check you must have a recognizable usb flash drive or ipod plugged in and turn radio to usb input mode and then push and hold down the select button and the version screen will pop up. The upgrade works as advertised!

Now if I can just get the service department to catch up with the fix. Have had a call in for PDIM upgrade for over a week and they have not been too proactive.

Just a correction here... I mis-read and thought this at first too, but re-read his post carefully. He is not stating the condition of "if you unplug your iPod while the car is on" as being the cause of the problem. That is just the first step in his solution. So it should read like this:

Problem:
iPod is not being recognized.
Solution:
If you:
  1. unplug your iPod while the car is on
  2. turn the car off
  3. open the door
  4. wait like 30 sec
  5. close door
  6. start car
  7. plug in iPod
then it should recognize again.
I can confirm this is true, as it happens to me quite often (AND IT IS VERY ANNOYING, ESPECIALLY WHEN I'M IN A HURRY ).

I also never remove my iPod - it stays in the center console. This just happens randomly, and does not seem to have any consistency. Sometimes when I turn my car on, it works. Other times, I turn the car on, and the radio is on instead of the iPod, and the iPod will not be found. Also note that I never listen to the radio - iPod only.

That's great news! It looks like there was a problem with the file that was posted online and that has been fixed, so the dealers shouldn't have any problems with updating to version CE now.

Still trying to figure out why the dealers can't get the radio and/or PDIM updated for the aftermarket PDIM install.

...
iwantone2's problem isn't with the iPod not being recognized but with the entire PDIM module not being recognized when installed in a vehicle that did not originally come with the PDIM.

That corrected file real recent? I haven't heard anything from my dealer in 2 weeks and I'm getting annoyed at having no bluetooth, usb or aux port to use.

No, they still have problems. CE doesn't really fix much. The main issues remaining as far as I'm aware/concerned are all for non-iPods. I think CE gets iPods working pretty good.

1. Doesn't remember last playlist.
2. Doesn't remember 'random' setting
3. Indexes each time on bootup (can't do anything while it's indexing)
4. Zune "skips" towards the end of every track
