Steering wheel replacement

Has anyone tried to replace a 2010-2011 steering Wheel with one from say 2012-2015? I like the newer style and wondered if it would work swapping.

I’m pretty certain that it will work. The airbag is different and kinda pricey.

$300 and some dollars new from GM parts or almost half that used from a junkyard.

Why do you prefer the newer style? To me I looks very generic and cheap compared to the early style. It's one of the things I enjoy about my car.

I’m in the process of doing this swap myself and asked this question in the diy section no answer. I have a 2013 wheel I don’t like my 2011 steering wheel it reminds me of a button.

Thanks for this great write up. Soon as my other dummy wheel arrives with my controls is when I’ll do this swap. I did do a search from google which is why I probably didn’t find your post.
